Wild statements such as are circulated by people and made in letters to the press against this immunisation, are usually born of ignorance; but unfortunately these people can be of no assistance or give sound advice to parents, or to the children themselves when they become victims of diptheria, neither can they restore the children back to life, when the disease proves fatal and so relieve the burden carried by the parents, or save children for a country which needs them.

Such a responsibility which these types of people have assumed quite airily, is indeed ghastly! Considering the advantages of immunisation as against the appalling results of diptheria itself....."

This is a orginal of part of a original letter from russia"s Catherine the great (who was very brave and took the smallpox variolation cure in the 18th century when it was against all advice and as we know it worked well, it killed over 40% of those who got it in russia at that time... )giving instructions on treating on treating small pox in the area of Ukraine, there was a lot of opposition then even with 40% death rate....
I sadly got to see Diptheria in real time instead of from a medical textbook a lot in Africa back in the day and even more died in the camps than "normal" because of the starvation having weakened the patients, mainly children, not a nice way to die.

    Are these already in Oz?

I agree, a tough decision to make of right or wrong but that is what we pay them for.
Its early in the day yet with this variant and so little known about it .... Vaccines may still be ok
There are nearly 30000 bases in a Covid genome so in theory say quaddrillions of possible mutations with a wide range of possible effects which may be insignifcant in practical effect in humans... Doesnt mean the existing vaccine will not cause a immune response that "recognise" this as a covid virus antigen and our immune system will act in the way its meant to....

What fantastic cursive handwriting. Yes I realise it is not yours.

If only my signature was as nice as that one instead of the bloody scrawl that it is.

Got my Sunday long run in running (slowly) 38259 steps today 10 km walk with the better half, dog and kids then 25ish run listing to a pod cast or ten One had the South African Health mister unhappy with the travel restrictions stating some thing which I really like to hear.

Most of the case just like Tote's link are mild

One of the most interesting parts of the 1918 flu pandemic is its still here just not killing us all. I did also hear of a lot of vax hesitant people now getting a vax and now suggesting like the rest of us its a rather little *****

PS I am now tapering to try to run a stupid distance again in just two weeks. Omicron COVID-19 will not stop me

As the virus mutates to get better at evading the immune system it has to use more slots in the toolbox, so necessarily loses some of the other tools used to damage the host.

The crux was he was positing that as the virus mutates to become more infectious it was likely to become less damaging.
