This is a orginal of part of a original letter from russia"s Catherine the great (who was very brave and took the smallpox variolation cure in the 18th century when it was against all advice and as we know it worked well, it killed over 40% of those who got it in russia at that time... )giving instructions on treating on treating small pox in the area of Ukraine, there was a lot of opposition then even with 40% death rate....
I sadly got to see Diptheria in real time instead of from a medical textbook a lot in Africa back in the day and even more died in the camps than "normal" because of the starvation having weakened the patients, mainly children, not a nice way to die.

I agree, a tough decision to make of right or wrong but that is what we pay them for.

Its early in the day yet with this variant and so little known about it .... Vaccines may still be ok
There are nearly 30000 bases in a Covid genome so in theory say quaddrillions of possible mutations with a wide range of possible effects which may be insignifcant in practical effect in humans... Doesnt mean the existing vaccine will not cause a immune response that "recognise" this as a covid virus antigen and our immune system will act in the way its meant to....

It is in Code & also because I used an Onion Juice Keyboard to make doubly sure.

I read a fantastic writeup a few weeks ago by a Virologist about mutations. Paraphrasing his take, a virus only has a certain sized toolbox. Some tools are for evading the immune system, some are to damage the host, none are deliberate as such. As the virus mutates to get better at evading the immune system it has to use more slots in the toolbox, so necessarily loses some of the other tools used to damage the host.

The crux was he was positing that as the virus mutates to become more infectious it was likely to become less damaging.
