The thing that set the LROCV show above any other 4x4 show for years, was the fact it was aimed at LR owners by LR owners because they weren't being catered for at any of the other shows. you can see how much the dynamics of the show have changed, in the area we were parked there were only 2 LR ours, a Defender and a Disco. every other 4x4 was Japanese
Dave110,
I think you will find that LROCV have gone to great lengths not to aim at Land Rover owners, as they don't want it to be known as "The Land Rover show". If you look at the brochures, the only reference to Land Rovers is the club Logo at the bottom of the back cover.
What the exhibitors display has nothing to do with the club and never has. As for the number of Land Rovers in the car park, this may reflect a greater number of vehicles in the car park, or a decline in the number of Land Rovers that are actually used for four wheel driving. I don't know which it is, as I haven't seen the car park during the show for about 10 years!
Its just a pity there were more Jap 4WDs around than LRs!!!
I was shocked to hear most of the LROCV dont drive LRs - maybe its all to do with the hand shake?

I realise that LROCV has no control over what exhibitors display but it would be nice for some of the exhibitors to display their LR stuff. for example as far as I know OL are the only importers of the South African made auxillary fuel tank that fits in the rear drivers side wheel arch I would love to take a look at one before buying, the only way I can see one is to order one in from Ol. if I want to see one for any other 4x4 I can see it at any 4x4 accessory place on the other hand Longranger who make fuel tanks for any 4x4 had LR tanks as their display
I guess that has more to do with Land Rovers Marketing department.... sad situation - but a reality of life..
Not quite sure where you heard that...... but it is BS.
You do not have to drive a Landy to be a member of LROCV ( if you don't you are an associate member - there is a link on the site that explains membership for those interested http://www.lrocv.com.au/store/page.pl?id=75)
The majority of members do own at least 1 Landy - and some have dozens.
Sure there are several other makes, but the vast majority are Land Rovers. I'd be very surprised if the Jap 4x4's make up as much as 5% of vehicles.

It's a good point Dave, I'll ask if there is a way we can persuade those sorts of exhibitors to include those specific Land Rover items in their display.
Maybe closer to next years show I should post on here - see if I can get some specific requests for the exhibitors.... at worst they can only say no...
That said as Craig mentioned above - it is run by LROCV but promoted as "The Victorian 4WD Show" - no one said it was Land Rover ONLY.
Cheers, Mark
