A couple of LR Expos ago, I bought an Oricom UHF380 CB to fit into the P38A.

    file_5_4.jpg

It never got fitted to the P38A before I sold it so, at long last, I have just fitted the CB to the L322. I've installed in the manner done by Homestar - see How to - No Holes CB Radio Installation

As you can see, the cabling is hidden under the roof lining, etc. so it was a bit of a fiddly job.

Of course, as it is something I bought, it is faulty. It won't power up. Zilch, nowt, nothing.

So now I have to pull it all out to check it. To make it worse, I can't find the purchase docket for the warranty.

    Gahhh!

Just checking,,,, you haven't managed to do something like just blow a fuse maybe (?), or perhaps running the cables, pulled something out of its socket ?

Could be a simple fix perhaps Ron.

    I have found the problem.

Oricom provide an RJ45 joiner and a longer cable to extend the handset to a location remote from the main unit.

The joiner is faulty - not in manufacture but in design. The RJ45 plugs have to be pushed right home to connect but they don't stay locked in that position. They can move in and out about 1.5mm When they move out, they lose contact.

Naturally, this joiner is located up in the roof space above the centre light assembly. Oh well, I wanted to remove the light fitting to modify if for LEDs.

I'll trot off to Jaycar to see if they have a better joiner. I hate going into Penrith.

Well, at least you seem to have found the problem fairly rapidly!

True. I've done a temporary fix and have emailed them to ask if they have a better joiner. They are over at South Windsor so I might drop in there.

Ron, you shouldn't be allowed to have money.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
