A few weeks ago I ordered a radiator hose online for my brother's car. The first site I visited had the decency to say it would be on back order, the second one didn't so it took weeks to arrive.

My local bolt shops (2) are closer than my local hammerbarns ( also 2). Thing is, the bolt shop mob know what they are doing, and most of the stuff I want is not available in a blister pack. Both bolt shops have the (dis?) advantage of being near the tool shops. Oh wait, one tool shop has moved, to opposite the hammerbarn as it happens. Nevermind, the other one is near TWO tool shops. AND a hammerbarn... Spoilt for choice, me.

This story is even worse as I didn't even buy the part! When I got home today my retired truck driver neighbour was fiddling around with his car for awhile, so I went over to see what was wrong. Turns out he'd ordered a new tail light for his tray back Hilux, but it wouldn't fit due to different plugs, and the big "Auto" chain wouldn't take it back, so I ended up cutting off the plugs and wiring it up for him, was doing my head in at first as four colour changes in the wiring between old and new plugs and lights! While packing up I looked at the box and it said IIRC FJ75 Cruiser?

I bought an ancillary belt tensioner off evilbay this week for the L322.
I installed it which is a bugger of job as one can't see the bolt holes. Having fitted it, I found the pivot bolt/nut was finger tight so I had to remove it again to fix that and Loctite the nut. I fitted it once again and tensioned the item up but had lots of belt squeal. I tried tensioning again and then found that the tensioning nut (the 17mm nut with the hole in the middle) wasn't welded to the plate so it rotates instead of tensioning the belt.

To release tension on the belt, one puts a long 17mm ring spanner on the hex and levers the spanner clockwise. To tension the belt, one pushes the spanner hard anticlockwise.
