My wife wanted a Christmas present for our daughter. She wanted a white one which were on the top shelf of the shop. I could reach so I selected one and gave it to her.

Today (as we open our pressies on Christmas Eve), my daughter opened hers.

It doesn't work. Well, I did select it.

To make it worse, I bought HDTV flat screen TV for my wife (I rarely watch TV so I couldn't care less about the TV).

It turns out, I got a HDTV ready unit not one with an in-built HDTV tuner. I didn't find this out until I'd set it up and searched for channels - only to find no digital channels.

I wonder if I can take it back to exchange it.

Last week I bought a high-speed film scanner. It doesn't work. I keep getting a "scanner communications error" displayed.

    No.

I forgot this one. I'll put it in technical I think.

Last week I bought a new fan viscous coupling (clutch). The price was right, summer is coming on, and I've been thinking of replacing the old one for the past 6 years.

The new one doesn't seem to freewheel very much. There is a lot of fan roar al the time, not just on start-up. When I turn the engine off, the fan stops almost immediately. I thought the fan should spin a little bit, maybe even a couple of times. I'm not sure if the new clutch is faulty.

It should be easy to turn ... maybe a little stiffer than the one you replaced

But if you can hear it roar all the time ... Get rid of it before the plastic blades split apart and take out the radiator

... Sorry Ron ... It sounds, looks & smells faulty

Good point, Mike. I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if TR Spares will take it back?

Curses! Whilst investigating the main battery discharge problems, and connecting up the charger to the second battery in the spare wheel well, I noticed a wet area around the battery tray. Hmmm.

I just pulled the AGM battery out of the wheel well. It's leaked.

I thought they didn't leak and could be used in any position. It's a good thing mine was upright.

Maintenance-Free / Sealed AGM Batteries: The valve regulated, spill-proof construction of the Absorbed Power AGM battery allows trouble-free, safe operation in any orientation. There is no need to ‘top up’ the electrolyte. They will also not corrode the battery surrounds.
I've spent an hour or so today stripping it all out, neutralising the acid. wire brushing, hosing, and cleaning.

The LPG tank is in the wheel well, too, so it might need to come out for a check.

The battery is cracked on the bottom of the case. It looksd like it only leaks when it is taking a high current charge.

I bought the battery from a battery mob in Taren Point about two years - see http://www.aulro.com/afvb/trailers-v...ies-cheap.html

I wonder if it has a warranty? Another question I have for the gurus - should an AGM battery leak liquid acid?
