    Rain

Well, we got 10mm overnight in two thunderstorms - the first just after I went to bed, the second around 4.30am - consequently feeling rather grumpy this morning.

This is the highest rainfall in a single fall since June, and a total of 38mm in the last four months - nothing to write home about. The 10mm will hardly lay the dust for more than a day.

Just started to rain here John, but don't expect to get much. A number of severe storms have moved/are moving through Ipswich and Brisbane with occasional heavy falls. Some places are copping it and others not.

They keep forecasting that the next event will be the one with rain in it - and this has been the case for the last four months - we get rain OK: 0.5, 1.5, 4, 2.5, 0.5, 8, 0.5, 5.5, 0.5, 4.5, 0.5, 10mm - that is all our registrations for the last four months, during which time there was going to be "significant rainfall" at least half a dozen times. I'm afraid that I have to conclude that the forecasters are optimists.

Hello John,i got those two storms here to,the lightning show was unreal!.but i only got 1.50mm out of both of them.i have two dry dams and only one with good water in it,but everyone else around here is in the same boat.its hard to take when you see these huge black clouds overhead, but they dont want to let the water go.but all you can do is.

We had 50mm over the weekend. October monthly average already exceeded. Hope some gets to the mid north of WA and the East coast.

Must be a very small tank!

Not that it is as important as the people out west, however I have a 4,400litre tank in the backyard, used for washing the clothes, washing the car, filling the spar and watering the lawn. Anyway a couple of weeks ago the temporary overflow device to direct the water into the sump to be pumped out to the storm-water failed and I lost about 4,000 litres. Even though we have had a couple or three heavy downpours in the last few weeks, I'm still only holding about 2,000 litres.

The car is quite dirty at the moment.
