I just went down the street to cast my vote, and being in JWH's seat, it's been pretty full on - including the following, slightly disturbing story:

My uncle, a teacher at a local school, told me that yesterday, before the end of school, there were people entering the school and starting to set up their signs. The principal told them to leave, but apparently one guy wanted to argue - however when the principal threatened to enforce the enclosed lands act, his two supporters decided it'd be better not to stay.

If I were the principal: No correspondence entered into.

DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING IS ONLY SPIN: I mean, they could have been anybody, and not had a police check done on them, and since they are supporting politicians, who are not always entirely straightforward with the truth, it may well be the case that some of them may have omitted to reveal everything relevant, including perhaps, pedophilic tendencies, to the responsible authority granting them access.

I'm with you 100%, mate. I went back to the UK for a visit at the start of this year, and I couldn't believe how much and how badly the country had deteriorated during the five years I'd been away. All thanks to the Labour government.

I just have an unpleasant feeling that if Labor (sic) get in here, the same thing will happen.

If the Mining Companies earnings are in US$, and the AU$ drops then that will INCREASE their profits! Miners, Primary Producers and other exporters WANT the dollar to drop as it makes their prices more competitive, and increases their returns.

The issue with Howard is NOT what he DOES, it's what he SAYS. He can't be honest with the Australian people. If he can't be upfront because what he proposes SOUNDS like a bad Idea, then all the spindoctoring in the world won't make it a better Idea.

In the 1998 election, Howard told us he WOULDN'T introduce a GST. After he was voted in, that's exactly what he DID do. The money was promised to the States, but they're all now in deficit while the Fed Govt is in Surplus because he's witholding the GST funding. He then generously then offers to supply the money that should have already been paid, but only if he gets to control Schools, Hospitals and Water rights. What's next?

In the 2003 election, he never said boo about Work Choices, but brought it in after he won a landslide vote. How could you be considering laws that has major impact on a huge number of employed Australians and the Companies that employ them, but not bother to run it by voters?

This time he has said that 25 Nuclear reactors would be good for Australia, but where will they go? Oh, We don't need to discuss that right now! How can he come up with a figure like 25 if he hasn't thought of where they will go? So after he's re-elected, he will just announce that one will go here, here and here (x25)and if you just happen to live there, there or there, well there's no point discussing it now.

No, not really a union person. I just get a bit fed up with the scare tactics used by little Johny. Although I think I'd prefer union people to lawyers and rich business people.

    Cheers,
    Pete
