I've used them also and haven't had an issue really as yet (UHF I bought, the screen wasn't aligned properly - opened it up and fixed myself) but have been warned that at least one of the brands they sell (GME IIRC) will generally not honour warranty claims for good purchased from them.

Some of their stuff seems to be a little too cheap to me so I tend to be a little wary.

I heard about a horrific transaction. A mate of mine (real nice and trusting guy) anyway he sold a car, car goes counts cash all parties concerned are apparently happy. Then out of the blue, months later, he started getting speeding fines sent to him. Apparently the purchaser was driving around in the unregoed car that my mate no longer possessed. Huge fines and tolls went straight to my mate.

Now that one sucked. Costing him heaps in court costs and alike just to clear his name, wife is giving him hell over it etc....
Now if he had sent in the transfer papers signed by both parties, regardless of wether the buyer had paid transfer who would not be responsible at all and would not have even needed to go to court.

I pay with paypal and only through a credit card. If paypal won't refund you can reverse the charges through credit card. Paypal hate it, check out how hard it is to choose to pay via credit card rather than bank account.

So far had three or four transactions refunded no problems.

Steve there's no way you will lose your money if you payed with paypal. Make a claim through paypal they instantly freeze the funds until it is sorted.

That's the thing with ebay, if someone sends a item out saying its, in working order etc, and you get it and find its not, then they can easy say it was ok when they sent it, so you have no come back, that's why i always say to buyers take out insurance on expensive items to cover damage.

And a warning on Paypal, In there eyes you are guilty un proven innocent, I sent 2 Land rover models to a buyer in Portugal, who after 4 weeks said he had not received them, i of course had a postage receipt, but as he paid by paypay, they automatically deducted my account of $500 so he got his money back, for all knew he had the models but was trying to pull a fast one, it took 4 weeks for paypay to assess my case, and re credit my account, but in that time my paypal account was suspended, and i could not may some one from ebay. Lucky for me i had the receipt, or i would have been out of pocket, but still very unfair....

Ebay are investigating the fact that they have 50 negs in 6 months...

Cant get it repaired under warrentee as i have no TAX invoice... they wont accept paypal or ebay slips..
Calling Uniden in the morning to see what i can do...

Looks like i'm out of pocket again.....
I buy and sell heaps on ebay, nearly 500 items so far. Only ever had 1 dodgy transaction. NEVER buy from anyone under 99% ranking. Also look at the 99% ones and see if the compliant seemed reasonable and was handled well from the buyers perspective.

Most people are ok and I save a lot buying all my old Disco 1 spares from ebay.uk

In this case I think the advice you have been given re getting a quote to have it repaired yourself is sound (no pun intended).

    Good luck with it.

Looks likethey should be covering the postage charges for you going by their listing....

"If your item was non functional within the first 7 days from the date of arrival, we will replace your item including all shipping costs"

Def a case of reporting them to ebay if they're not honouring their own listing promises.
