ATTN: Those who have received a DVD

I made a mistake with the iGO8 software. Whilst the maps are there, I forgot to put the rest of the program on the disc.

These files may have been deleted from the original SD card if you've followed my instructions, and need to be replaced.

If you're having problems getting iGO8 to work after using my files/process, you should download the file in this link iGO8 application files.

Extract the folders/files and place them in the iGO8 folder on your GPS, and everything should work fine. As always, you can PM me or call me if you're having issues getting this to work.

    Apologies for the muck around.

I tested my 372MHz unit today with a 16GB SDHC card (Kingston brand)
    It works fine!

    Hi Gazz,
That quote of Ranga's was referring to quite a different unit to the 372MHz one.

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

    Hi Ranga,

Thanks for the great thread and work you have done.

    I have just ordered a 372MHz unit.

I your earlier posts you mentioned you would post a How To, so we could complete the changes ourselves.

I am wondering if this may still be possible.

I have been reading the DX site, and have assembled some assorted GPS software, and would like to confirm via your How To that my intended steps are correct.

    Thanks.

    Dave.

    Hi mate,
I'm still sending out DVD's to AULRO subscribers with the files and instructions needed to do the mods.

I have a few still to send out to people who have already sent me PM requesting it. Any subscribers who send me a PM can still get a disc, or send me their GPS and I'll mod it for them.

I've been really busy lately, so can't guarantee a speedy turnaround, but I'm committed to helping out AULRO subscribers.

    GPS setup help

My unit arrived today and I have a few issues. I'm awaiting Rangas disk but cant wait.

When i turned it on and went to navigation and find address It only shows Canada and USA for country. Have i been supplied the wrong maps ? The screen does show i'm in Australia but a black map with no roads ect.

I'm running windows xp and when plugged in and booted up it does not show on my desk top. I have sd card reader and when i removed the card from the unit and plugged it into the computer it opened fine. but i cant locate the root file mentioned . Any hints / or persons in townsville who can help. Alternatively anyone prepared to PM their phone number so i can call and get talked through setting it up.

No, they only come with US maps. You will have to source Aus maps urself unless Ranga has slipped onto the DVD.

Also a BIG word of warning, update your virus software and make sure it is running before plugging your unit or SD into your PC. It will more than likely have a virus in there somewhere, most likely in the iGo folder.

    You have been warned.

    Cheers and happy hacking.

I've ordered two of the 372Mhz units to have a play with. I am hopeful they will be more useful than the Chinese 1 din GPS/DVD/CD/TV/SD/USB/iPod/Radio I recently bought... but it also runs WinCE 5 and iGo so maybe I'll learn some new tricks for it.

Ranga - if you want some storage for images and files, I have plenty of storage available at http://paulp38a.com

Not sure if my "unlimited storage and bandwidth" plan is up to 1.8GB images but a few hundred MB should be no problems.

    cheers, Paul.

    Paul,
Not sure what you mean - do you have 2 of the units I mod, or the unit in the photo?

I'm not confidant I can mod the unit in the photo...
