Isn't it typical of a Land Rover Manual:

    Cool Box
    Removal
1 . Disconnect the battery ground cable.
For additional information, refer to : Battery, Mounting and Cables, 414-01.
    2. Remove the floor console upper panel.
For additional information, refer to : Instrument Panel and Console, 502-12.

    3. Remove the floor console lid.
    > Open the lid.
    > Remove the 2 Torx bolts.
    > Remove the 2 covers

    4. Remove the floor console cool box.
    > Remove the 2 Torx screws.
    > Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Installation
1 . Install the floor console cool box.
    > Connect the electrical connector.
    > Tighten the screws.

2 . Install the floor console lid.
    > Install the covers.
    > Tighten the Torx bolts to 3 Nm (2 lb.ft).

3 . Install the floor console upper panel.
For additional information, refer to : Instrument Panel and Console, 502-12.

4 . Connect the battery ground cable.
For additional information, refer to : Battery, Mounting and Cables, 414-01.

    <Comment> But they don't supply procedures 414-01 or 502-12<end Comment>

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I did not see a switch there - how is it turned on and off, or is it on all the time the ignition is on and a timer to turn it off after the ignition is turned off.

See attached, I've highlighted the switch. Agreed it isn't very clear from the instructions until you look at them with 200% zoom.

Here is a pic from the D3 forum.

I leave mine switched on all the time, but the light in the switch turns green (and the fan on the fridge which you can only see when the cupholder is removed) starts just after I start the car engine.... and turns off a few secconds after I stop the engine.

The is a small open box on the front of the fridge with a small simple electronic control board with a relay in it.

So It would seem it is voltage sensing controlled to run when the engine does, as I use the same connection to power the fuel pump and gauge for my aux tank, and it is powered whenever the ignition is on, but not just when the engine is running.

    Hey Terry,

Mine had been factory fitted- it stays on for approximately 30 seconds after I turn off the car... It would make sense if it is in fact linked to the voltage as mentioned by discomaniac as my batteries combined are rarely above 13v when the alternator isn't working.

It's also an 08 SE model if it helps work out if the wiring was changed over the years...

Received the cooler unit today and just completed the install. Quick and simple. Now to test it out over the next few days.

    Thanks Mike and Nick.

Had to chuckle, for those not on the D3 forum, Nick posted this.

I don't know how many have ended up out here but that's pretty impressive, the D3 forum has 32 orders.

Hoping to get mine re-delivered tomorrow so I can fit it on Saturday.
