I think it's already been noted that you are disturbed, Muppet.

I've got dozens of photos that I need to sort through and post up, I've been trying to put a document together to take to the inspection (when it's finished of course).

I need to dedicate some time to getting it finished off.

So, finally an update......after I've promised one several times over the last 12 weeks or so.

This was it several weeks ago. The front end stripped right down, and I had decided to do the timing belt whilst access was easy.

My intention was to replace the timing belt, even though it had been replaced on time 60k ago, the most important aspect was checking the oil pump housing - was it the dodgy one that snaps? Or was it replaced with the belt? Bugger. Old, fragile style it is. Wait for another couple of weeks whilst a new one comes from the other side of the world then.

At the same time, the water pump had to be replaced

At that point, the parts that were left to do:
    Finish replacement of inner guard
    Start rebuilding.....

Still waiting for new air con condenser to become available. I've tried to buy a new one three times now, with no luck - "sorry, out of stock mate, none in the country". The old one is slightly damaged, still useable, but ugly. As soon as I can find a new one, my tame fridgy next door can come and evacuate the old one.

    More photos to come.

I'm sure that anyone who owns a D3/4 will look at that photo and think "holy cow, there's a lot missing". At that point, there was some very large boxes full of bits in the shed.

    More photos to follow.

good timing Dave, was just about to poke you with a big stick to see if you had made any further progress. Don't need to now

Hope you know how it goes back together mate.
    Cheers,

There is much, much more done. I'm just a bit slack at getting the thread updated.

Plus I haven't quite got the finish on the new bonnet that I would like. I've sanded it back and repainted a couple of times as it wasn't quite right. And now my polisher has died, partway through the third attempt.

I spent a long time faffing about with the interior wiring too. I was originally trying to splice in the loom for the OE sat nav and screen. I gave up on that and ended up just adapting the dash and H-trim, and some wiring to hold an aftermarket GPS unit and camera.

That was about a month lost

Just as well you didn't, Dave only knows how to deal with being attacked by a man with a piece of fruit

I do react quite badly to being prodded with a gooseberry.
