    Every milestone is worth celebrating

We are both a long way from Ricks recent achievement though:

I think I have to chime in hear.....

Proper DRLs should not be on at night - they are too bright and spread light upwards so oncoming cars can see them. Even at dusk, you will notice that cars with LEDs on without headlights are quite bright and bothersome to oncoming drivers.

The signature LED lights on the D4 are not proper DRLs and do not dazzle oncoming drivers at night.

I put some Hella DRLs on my car - there are 3 wires coming out of them - one earth, one power and one that is supposed to be connected to headlight power that switches the DRLs off when the headlights come on.

I found some sort of ignition power and wired my DRLs to that, so that they are on when the ignition is on. Then I wired the other wire to the signature LEDs. I leave my headlights on auto, so that when it gets dark, the signature LEDs and headlights come on, and automatically switch the DRLs off.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers

Can you remember where you tapped the ignition power from?

i can find out. i basically opened the fusebox and tested every spare spot that didn't have a mini-blade fuse in it and found one that seemed to be on with ignition and turned off 30 sec after ignition. it was obviously redundant on my car. i then put one of those fuse double-adapter like things on it which gave me a spare wire and wired that to the LEDs - they don't draw much power so assumed it was ok.

i will have a look next time i am near the car

    cheers
    lucas
