Mine is going in for rectification this week, I will let you know what comes.
As far as i am concerned, if the Land Rover give a screen reading to a decimal point, the system should be that accurate, or its misleading. 8.2 l/100 kms means its accurate to 0.1 of a litre, otherwise it should be 8 or 9 and no decimal point. For the service department to claim otherwise is "its just an estimate sir" is entirely inappropriate.
I have also asked for the service manager to tell me what the inputs are land rover use to determine these readings. I thought they were based on the injector pulse frequency and openings however it was suggested at the dealership it was based on the tank level sensor and odometer (does not seem correct to me) if the computer can give an "instant" reading, it should be able to provide an accurate average reading as well.
A nice easy 1900 km drive was 11.26 l/100 actual, computer said it was 8.7 l/100 kms. GPS distance matched the odometer quite well. So....either BP are are ripping me off when I fill up or Land Rover are engaging in misleading practices by setting the computer to make customers think these vehicles are a lot more fuel efficient than they really are.....
For a thought here....the computer lets me think the D4 uses 8.7 l/100 do 166l for the trip.....when in face I used 216l for the trip. So the extra 50 l at $1.50 is another $75 ...so the car is not as economical as we have been lead to believe.
I am really most annoyed though by my mate in his toe rag with the 180 motor who gets sub 8l/100 kms on the same trips together and has been hanging **** on me that the D4 is always topping up yet I claim my economy is not that different...... You do try to "defend" the land rover brand![]()
Overall, service manager seemed to be genuinely interested in solving this so I trust there will be a reasonable post next week on this....

Mine certainly reads low... But I have never had a car yet were the trip computer accurate.
I use an Android app called iMileage it allows you log multiple cars.
My Trip Computer says 10L/100 iMileage tells me its really 11.57L/100
My MINI says 6L/100 on the computer iMileage is 7.78L/100
Ditto the CCF file stuff. There's a disco3.co.uk thread about this somewhere too...
I put fuel in mine yesterday for the first time.Readout said 9.8l/100 average.Trip 559km.I filled it to the brim,59L.As the dealer filled it to start with I doubt they filled it to the brim so it is close to the mark. Will keep an eye on this if you guys say they are not verry accurate.
Thanks
Andrew

It's an easy fix with IID Tool; now mine is accurate to .05l/100km (checked with over a dozen fills), which is close enough for me.
So could a Nanocom with appropriate unlock codes change these settings in the CCF?

Tried that, didn't work for me,dealer didn't want to or couldn't fix it.
Mine is always 1L/100 out,i just live with it.
Filled it up today, said 10.2,worked it out manually, was exactly 11.2l/100.
One of my brothers has a Honda something?,it is spot on,another has an XR6,again his is also spot on.
Have only done a few tanks in our Turbo(XR6 Turbo) Territory found the trip computer to be pretty well spot on.

Well I have a software upgrade, time will tell if its any better. Team at the dealers tried to find out how the system works but apparently there is no one within Land Rover here in Aus that knows so they dont know and cant explain it to me. Guess I will have to ask someone in the UK. At least they tried to find out for me.
As for the fuel tank readings, it was explained that the system is designed to be ULTRA conservative and thus help limit the issues assosiated with people running them out of fuel. Given the demographic now driving them, I can understand this thinking.......
Now just to re program the brain to accept its all a gimmick on the dash and really a WAFTAM in having it there. Push the little button on the stalk until it is not seen and just use the fuel gauge and accept when the light comes on I have 100 kms left.
