It's just a check over & a fluid top up where necessary.
It's strange for a dealer not to want you to come in though as it's normally a chance for them to upsell something else to you.
Howdy all,
I am approaching the 13k mark on my D4. I understand LR recommend a 'health check' but when I phoned the local-ish dealer they stated that the Health Check was optional and were encouraging me to not get it done... I have had dubious levels of service from this dealer in the past and have learnt not to trust them.
I believe that they dont actually change any components during this 'health check' so what do they do and is it worth doing?
Appreciate any help!
Cheers,
James

James, I would advise you to get the oil & filter changed.
25K is far too long for the first oil change, despite how good they tell you the oil is.
I had mine changed every 12K regardless of what the book says.
Cheers, Craig
I did the same thing the other day, as I am now at 12000kms. Was told no point unless I had been doing slot of towing or a large portion of dusty condition driving such as a mine site.
So at thus stage, im not planning on it, but I am interested to see what others say
If you want to look after her, get her oil and filters down at the half way point too.
My dealer is happy to take my money.
Brett....
Personally, I would (and did) do it, even though its no longer covered by the corporate package on the 13MY.
I was charged one hours labour and the invoice describes it as the 6 month/13000km arduous service. It lists a heap of things that were checked (usual service stuff) plus they changed the oil and filter.
I expected it to be just a plug into the computer and read the fault codes job and I only did it to get the oil changed, but after seeing what they did I think it was worth doing. This may depend on your dealer though and what you have said doesn't inspire confidence. It is of course all stuff you could easily do yourself.
Whether or not you get the health check done, I really think its worth changing the oil. No-one I have spoken to yet has convinced me that waiting 26000km is a good thing. Also have a look at what Land Rover define as arduous conditions. Mine doesn't have too hard a life but it probably falls into that category. At worst, its cheap insurance.
Cheers,
Jon
I am Hunter Vallyish also and every time I go into the localish dealers service department I see new faces. Seems to be a disportionately high turnover of staff. As a Diesel Engineer by profession I would advise an oil and filter change.
