    Disco4 8 Speed Fuel Economy

    Hi all,

Just wondering what sort of 'Real Life' fuel economy you guys are getting out of your 3.0Lt / 8 speed auto diesels.

    Cheers, Craig

Around 10 l/100km using the old calculator method at fill up time.
The trip computer says 8.5 - 9 l/100km - it's. Rather optimistic, which annoys me. Why has the thing been programmed to lie?

Yep.. about 10 L/100km at the bowser, but about 9.0 on the dial. Towing a heavy camper trailer the figures seem closer 13.7 L/100km at the bowser vs 13.2 l. 100/km on the dial.

My data so far. The car is much more economical than the 6 Speed MY10 D4 I owned previously. My caravan is a large 3.2T contraption!

I live in a rather hilly area in Far North Qld and general run around is 10.2 l/100klm. with the van on up until 3 weeks ago was 19 l/100klm but last trip over 2 weeks to south west qld cam in at 16.5 l/100. Must be no wind down south. All figures from bowerser. 19000k on clock. I sit on 100kph on the open road.

I dont really keep that much of a track on it as i dont really drive for economy i guess but on the highway i get around 10.5l/100 as i usually always reset and fuel up before i go on trips and around town its pretty ordinary but i guess i love the power so you have to sacrifice some things haha!! Towed 3.2t the other day and averaged 15.7l/100 if i remember correctly average speed of 108kmh was pretty happy with that.

    About 4000km worth

    Actual calculated values:
9.3 to 10.3 on the highway
10.6 to 13.0 around Brisbane but up to 15.4 (extra right foot + short drives)
Towing the camper trailer was around 12 (highway only)

The dash readout is always higher than actual by 0.5 to 1.5 but there's no consistent factor on the discrepancy.

    10.9 calculated, 50% suburbia and 50% on M1 between Brisbane/GC/SC.

I find the 110 limit on the M1 to the GC increases consumption.

The carputer would have me believe something like 9.

Picked up my new silver D4 from Mackay the day before ANZAC day.
Next day we drove down to Brissy.

Our first fuel stop was in Childers 660 km later (after an overnight stay in Gladstone)
We got 9.4 (calculated). Just two up with aero roof bars fitted
Our next refuel was in Brisbane 6 days later (with some city driving included) and we got 11.9. That's all I have so far.

I have been recording fuel consumption on my last three cars (all TDI's)
Each time I change cars they tend to be bigger (more frontal area) and heavier.

Best ever from my 2006 VW Jetta 2.0L (which I still own) was 5.1 (before I got the ECU "chipped").
Best ever after it was "chipped" was 6.0 but there was some city driving involved. Normally get 7.0 to 7.5 around town. The car is much quicker with the chip but I do pay at the bowser

The best the Audi Q5 3.0L got was 7.0 (Grafton to Lithgow) and between 10.5 and 11.5 around town.

Has anyone trolled around the Toyota Land Cruiser / Prado forums to see what they are getting??

Mine consistently returns 9.5 to 10.5 on the screen, the couple of checks Ive done have been pretty close to displayed.ie 9.5 = almost 10,10.5 almost 11.
This is predominately 110kmh on cruise on a reasonably hilly trip(Williams to Perth),the numbers get better if one can keep below 100kmh and above 80kmh.
On the trip to Albany at easter in bust traffic sitting on 90 to 100kmh I got an indicated 8.6 per 100kmh,that refuel I did check 8.75 per 100km.
