    Hello lads
This oil here Titan GT1 Pro C1 530 4L Fuchs is good for the D4 with the DPF & without and is $43 for 4 liters and is available from this link Titan GT1 Pro C1 530 4L Fuchs so no more chasing around to find oil.

    Cheers Dec.

Thanks Declan for the link to the Fuchs Titan GT1 Pro C1 oil, which is suited for DPF and non DPF engines.

Just a further comment. My recollection is the oils suited for DPF engines have a lower level of some of the preferred ingredients, in order to not destroy/extend the life the DPF.
Would appreciate comment from anyone in the know.

Well Barbagallo's in Perth (LR Dealer) lost using Shell C3 5W-40 in my D4 3.0L so I don't think it's as critical as made out, OR, their service tool doesn't reflect the actual product used. Neither and both wouldn't surprise me.

    OIL for D3/4

IF your car is out of warranty and you don't have to use what dealers are flogging to protect the "warranty", Have used Penrite 5w-40 full synthetic "enviro", and nil issues after 380k.
Repco periodically sell it on "special" in 20L at about <$8L, and I am aware that there are lot of D3's running on same oil without issue. Why pay more?

    Oil for D3

    Hi All,

Useful to hear of others' oil choices and experiences.

I'm using Castrol Edge 5W 30 A3 B4 in my 05 D3 TDV6, change it every 12,000 km, all fine thus far at 406,000 km. Been using this oil since 180,000 km, before this the dealer serviced it with their LR brew. BTW, I get the oil at Repco, where the price is reasonable.

    Cheers,

Wow, that's impressive. Still original motor and gearbox?

    Hi Scott,

Yes, all original, the vast majority of those km are long trips. Its also a manual gearbox, which don't suffer the internal pressures and constraints of the autos.

fantastic longevity, a manual?? geeez do they still make them ? ( I believe Merc Benz stopped yonks ago) Modern oils are fantastic , Im sure most of us "hands on guys" change too often but so what, cheap insurance for a long life. Ill probably stick with Castrol now for the D4, (Nulon for the Td5 engine, Castrol Transmax for the auto and Redline Shockproof for diffs , 280K and going strong), their all good stuff, price irrelevant.
