I realise that 664 klms in a day is child's stuff and quite pathetic compared to the big daily miles, sorry klms, that youse mainlanders regularly do, but, here in Tassy its a slightly big deal due to the "mountainous" terrain......
Yesterday I took my eldest son with 4 mates with their 22kg backpacks loaded in my tandem 9 X 5 trailer from Hobart to Cradle Mt so they could do the 5 day Overland Track walk finishing at Lake St. Clair.
My trailer is robust and heavy, and I reckon the D4 was towing/carrying around 1.5 tonnes incl people.
Cruised easily at 110kph on the Midland & Bass Hwys then took the short cut to Sheffield then Claude Rd past Cethana Dam etc which is all undulating steep hills, and many slow tight corners etc so avge speed well down and lots of accelerating out of the tight corners etc.
Did it in almost exactly 4.5 hrs which included two p..s & food stops (which totalled approx 30 mins.)
Without exception all my son's mates commented what an unexpectedly to them nice car it was.
Two of them each had a new Triton 4x4 dual cab and new Hilux 4x4 dual cab the other two had Subaru's.
Returned via the Lake Hwy for a change ,towing the empty trailer, but lots of steep climbs which affected fuel economy.
Fuel cons was 10.4 lphk measured, not by LR computer, so very happy with that.
Next Sunday have to take trailer to Sthn end of Lake St. Clair to collect them, another approx 450 klms return.
Have decided I can put up with potential snapped crankshaft, split manifold, gearchange selector problems, broken tailgate cable issues

......as such a delightful and enjoyable car to drive.
Blud oaf they are a nice car!
