    Galvanic Corrosion

    Hi ND,
Thanks for the suggestion... I did think about that, but given that I have given the steel a number of coats of rust proof paint as an insulator and there is pretty low anodic voltage difference of around 0.1V between the steel brackets and the cast aluminium racks... they should be OK. I have read that if the difference is below 0.15V on the anodic index in outdoor conditions you should have little corrosive effect (providing you aren't a boat). The original Rhino Rack brackets were powder coated steel. Galvanised steel and aluminium on the other hand is a bad combo... and stainless steel and gal is a real corrosive mix.

Interesting point you raise though... as it makes you think of the combination of aluminium and steel in the Disco chassis and panels.

    Time will tell all....

    Cheers

Rebuilt valve body is now back in the hole. New solenoids, separator plate, zip kit.. Failed it vac test. They found that the lubrication control valve was leaking and had to order extra parts.

Glad I didn't try to do it myself as I don't have the tooling required and wouldn't have identified the lube valve leak.

The service was great, the guy was extremely knowledgeable and has a machine shop aswell. So reaming if required is a peice of cake. I asked if they had oil for purchase, he had genuine LG6. Told me they tried other oils in a 6hp26 in a Falcon and it was showing signs of wear. Had brass shavings from thrush washers in the pan at service time. He also services a taxi at 40k intervals which saw 900,000ks before sold off without any work to the trans.

Feels better already on the quick test drive. I'll chime in next week once it's had time to figure it self out and see how it's going. Mine's always been serviced since I have had it. All my seals inside were still nice and flexible.. Nothing stiff and brittle for me.

I dropped off the valve body ready to go with all parts. I paid less then $500 including the valve he had to order in. Very impressed with the price. He also sold me 5l of LG6 for about $200,
I can't remember the rest of the parts. I bought the solenoids of disco Jeff. Zip kit and sep plate online.

Do you happen to have a diagram that shows which bolts to remove to take the valve body out, got the steel pan and all the VB seals ready to fit and just got some more BMV for the job.

Hey loan, the bolts you need to take out are on the sonnax zip kit instructions. But they are the only torx40 bolts down there. The rest are smaller

    Excellent result.

Got to be happy when it makes the drive more enjoyable.
