Added a 4th mode of operation for the Traxide USI-160 isolator today. The 3rd mode which many do is to switch the earth to isolate the auxiliary battery when charging or rejuvenating the main battery.
As the switch I fitted was an on-off-on switch, I wired the second “on” position to ground via a normally open relay which only closes when the ignition is in position II.
Now when the ignition is on the unit powers up to which ever mode had been selected (shared or ignition), but after I shutdown the engine, the USI-160 will turn off and go into full energy saving mode straight away.
I got a bit freaked out the other day when one of the distance sensors went a bit spastic. Went into reverse and got a continuous distance alarm with the alarm having periods of rapidly turning off and on. My initial 2 thoughts were 1) how much is this going to cost, and 2) who do I know that could read and clear this fault for me? (I haven’t gotten around to buying an iiD yet)
Turns out it was a dead fly in a spiders web dangling in front of one of the front sensors! Definitely need to wash the car. Fly removed, sensor happy!

Rear pads change time. Third set I think at 215,000km. I'd bought a new set of rotors but the old rotors have worn no more than 0.5mm, certainly are still way above the 17mm min. thickness. So pads only and keep the rotors for next time.
The inner pad was way more worn than the outer pad (on both sides)...![]()
Suspected a air leak for a while so did the soapy water thing, nothing obvious , so put in offroad height and pulled the 20A fuse and let it sit for about 18 hours, both fronts are down so assume its the internally leaking from control valve. Seen a oring rebuild kit on the net, so placed the order and hopefully it will arrive by mid Jan - seems UK post is faster than ours - and will have a play when it arrives.
Hopefully the 4 new air struts will arrive around the same time...

Placed an order for rear drive shaft, 16/12 ex Rimmer Bros. Took till 22/12 to be placed in the hands of DHL but once they had it moved very fast i thought given all the troubles over there and the time of the year. In my hands 29/12. Interestingly Fedex would not carry it - supposedly exceeds their max length for shipping to Aus.
