Very nice. Same design as mine. How are you bolting it down to the car and how is the fridge held down?

    Cheers mate.
The whole box is secured using 4 x turn buckles. Fridge is secured with soft straps from the fridge handles to tie-down points mounted on the slide base.

D3 Suspension fault C1A13-64 Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery.

For the past few weeks the "Suspension Fault" message complete with disheartening bong has been appearing shortly after starting the engine. Its one of those faults that lights up the suspension icon in yellow and can be erased from the dashboard by an ignition off cycle.
Once the code was established using a code reader it became logical to repair. (irrespective of the suggestions on the code reader)

The code was the one I have in the title of this post (to assist searching in the future)

Some 2 years ago I put one of these kits Land Rover Discovery 3 4 Range Rover Sport Air Compressor Repair Kit Hitachi & End Cap through the Hitachi compressor as it was overheating. I also pulled out the bottom half plastic clamshell rubber sound proofing material and drilled a lot of 20mm holes in the case to let the hot air out. I has never overheated since and its not very noisy either.

I have noticed lately the old girl wasnt "farting" like she used to (usually shortly after starting, which is when the error message comes up) so I figured it had something to do with its bowels or large intestine.
I removed the compressor and had a quick look under the cover for the exhaust valve and everything there was clean and moving.
So I figured its bowels must be packed and she's constipated - so I opened the dessicant dryer assembly and down in the bottom (after carefully retreiving the top filter stack and dessicant), was the classic moist filter felt complete with dusty dessicant dust and saturated dessicant. The felt pad was not letting the air escape quick enough when the old girl rises up onto one cheek.
How did it get wet? Dunno, but it was killer humid up here in QLD over Xmas which is about when it started. Once the aircon dried out the interior air in the car it must have improved but after the moist air in the car was sucked into the compressor filter ... too late?

Dessicant spread out onto an oven tray and into a 65°C oven for an hour. Good felt filters rinsed in brake clean and dried in the sun and finished off in the oven I had to fashion a new bottom filter pad out of some felt I had laying around. Once I had it all back together the old girl is now farting like there's no tomorrow!

I will place an order for a spare filter kit as I am confident now that I can do this repair beside a track if required. LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3 4 RANGE ROVER SPORT AIR COMPRESSOR FILTER DRIER REPAIR KIT

So if someone tells you your Hitachi compressor needs replacing - have a crack at googling the websites for the vendors of the repair kits and see how it can actually be maintained in many cases (except maybe the AMK compressor from what I have read)

p.s. - the dessicant I received in my previous repair kit was blue and not orange as depicted in the photos. My original LR dessicant was yellow and perfect (no powder) after 9 years and I am sorry I swapped it out for the blue stuff supplied which has degraded quickly and gone about 5% powdery; which is what clogged the filters this time around. So if your LR dessicant is in good order, just dry it out and put it back in.

Hopefully someone can save some bucks with this information.

    Battery low voltage.

This morning went out to my car and it would not start. No lights etc. I have been having some trouble with the battery becoming flat and the warning message coming on after a few days of idle sitting in the garage. Charged up the battery with a charger and started the car. I drove for at least 2hrs and when I stopped the car it came up with the message that the battery had low voltage. I am unsure if its the battery (2yrs old) or the alternator not charging. I have a gap tool but I cannot seem to find how I can read any alternator out puts. At the top when the motor is running it show 13.7V. Not sure what that is. Can somebody point me in the direction with a list of instructions please.

    TIA

Hi Dirvine, what sort of driving have you been doing over the last 6 months with covid restrictions?

Are you drive for two constant hours, or two hours with a number of stops?

    Hi Tim,
I have been doing a few long drives at least once a week. For example last Sunday I drove 400kms. Then only short trips to local shops, once this week. When we were in severe lockdown (Victoria) I was charging the battery every 2nd week because I kept getting the message on the cars dash screen. This time I got nothing (drove the car on Friday no issues). I have one of your traxide systems in my car.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Always trying something different - and preparing to switch the van and aux to Lithium in the future.

**** Let me point out I never had a problem with my Traxide system, worked like a charm for the past 10 years and never let me down. If I wasn’t changing things in other ways it would have stayed. ****

So here’s the new set up:
Redarc 1250 - 50a DcDc with Solar input.
This is to utilise the Victron 12v panel I’m about to mount on the roof of the vehicle in the front 3rd of the Prospeed rack. I didn’t want another box, so an all in one was the way I chose to execute this.

I’ve wired my battery tray, it’s using some overkill cabling (35mm2 welding cable) to feed the bus bar, which then feeds the Charger, trailer brakes and lights.

Fyrlyts have a 16mm2 feed to the 75a relay and then back to 2x 30a breakers before heading to the 12-24v converters.

Roof bar has its own 25a breaker and relay with additional fuse.

Winch cabling (coiled up as the bar hasn’t come back from Adelaide after being powder coated and the Allisport Intercooler and Aeroflow oil Cooler aren’t here yet either) is a modest 50mm2 in this application.

Charging alright (this is with 2x 60ah AGM Aux batteries)

The light bar - with its own marker lights

New black facelift style grill and badge, 50mm2 winch cable visibly - I will replace the LH headlight once I finish the wiring tomorrow.

Some Aeroflow goodness waiting to fit

    Getting closer to finished.

Replaced the led bulb stock plate lights with LED panels

And a shot showing the marker lights in the Stedi Bar

And of course I’ve had these since day one…

I will bet your batteries are sulphated because of the lack of use of your vehicle and the fact that it sounds like you are actually discharging the batteries with the short drives.

A simple fix is to put a charger on your batteries and charge your batteries all night, every night for a week, and this is regardless of whether you drive during the day.

try this and see if it gets rid of the low battery messages within a day or two.

This is a situation that many people are having right now.
