Went to get a pair of glasses out of the glovebox after not being driven since monday to find the battery too flat to unlock the doors. Jump started from my "landrover recovery vehicle".]
Edit : On further investigation, this may have been an "own goal". I've always left my IID plugged in, and I always disconnect the bluetooth before leaving the vehicle if I've been using it. Last week I was having a play with getting the oil temp or EGT on the dash information display (so integrated interface rather than bluetooth), and I was impressed to see that after a trip it was still there when I got back in the car the next day. A bit of "duh" thought would imply that having it active kept it active and prevented bits of the car going to sleep, which is how it managed to remember what it was displaying. Lesson learned.
Today I drove our D3 (for the last time) from "Watsonia" all the way down to "Rye"... (thank goodness for tollways) and handed it over to the father-in-law of it's new owner... the new owner will come over from Launceston to collect it in a weeks time... we hope he & his family have a long & happy time with it, we sure did, it was a great vehicle and we'll miss it... however we're changing over to a 4motion VW Transporter for a change of pace, so it's 'goodbye" to our trusty D3 from us.
We look forward to keeping an eye on it via this forum....
Thank you everyone for all the help we received over the years, it's a great resource for any Landrover owner.
cheers
The Wet Season (October to April) brought us 2071mm rain which kept the D3 reasonably clean. Now that the Dry is here I gave it its first tub for 2021. I even hit the rims with Wheely Clean and then Force 20. That and the new rubber it has makes it look quite schmick again.![]()

Said good bye to the d3 today, now have the TRUSTY d2 and a new Pajero in the shed.
Yeh, it was a nervy relationship from the start, just didn’t feel right.
Drove it to True Grit and ran the course.
It’s now parked in front of our camper at Morgan ready to depart in the morning..
Tomorrow it’s due to do a loop from Riverland to Adelaide then Whyalla![]()
