    Just check the original ones.
In my case there was pretty much the same overlap on each side of the arm.
The arms went in very easily, and after a GOOD wheel alignment the car drives perfectly.

    Regards
Yep these are original LR ones I’m refreshing.

All other bushes get pushed all the way except this one. Quite strange but no doubt important.

When i did mine 5 years ago i noticed that the originals weren't pushed in with the lip flush, so i fitted them with the rear end flush with the arm tube which was the same as originals i took out.
I now have a full vehicle set of bushes with the front lowers due again.

Yes that’s very close to what it looks like, flush or slightly through the arm tube.

Here’s the Meyle HD arm now on the car. Very 50/50

Here’s the original LR arm I’m rebuilding

Got my CV boot kit and LCA bushes from LR last week so made time to pull the axle and replace the split boot, was going to leave the outer boot as it was still perfect but decided to replace it while i had it out and apart, regretted it as soon as i removed the boot as i would then need to flush out all the old grease first , clean and dry it out before re-greasing .
The split boot held up ok for a few weeks with just silicone holding it together.
Job done and axle refitted, also thought i better change the fuel filter since i seem to have forgotten about it.
Checkout the date on it .

Today I removed the foam liner (jack support) from the drivers side rear cubby, and the foam & tie-down unit for the UK tow bar from the passenger side.
Wow, I've just tripled the space. More room for tools!

That unit to secure the tow bar weighs about 2 kilos and takes a lot of space. I can understand it not letting the tow bar become a projectile in a prang.

I removed mine which allowed for the compressor to fit in there even with the AC blower there.

Did the same on my D4, but just note that if you leave the tow tongue and ball or any other loose tools laying around loose in that space, next time you go offroad, you run the risk of denting the rear quarter panel from the inside....ask me how i know. There's a reason why the foam is there, and its not only to restrain the jack (DS) and tow tongue (PS), also kerps the road noise down and stops dust getting into the load space.

Problem is though is the foam is shaped for the pommy cast 1 piece ball/tongue and not the hitch receiver tongue that we use so it was useless anyway.
My tongue sits under the rear seats where it cant go anywhere.

All good mate, the D3 pretty much behaved itself but I was careful with RPM keeping it to no more than 2K. Only failed once and that was close to home turning onto the dirt road detour.

I think the long run did it some good, seems smoother generally though I do notice the dreaded TC shudder kicking in from time to time.

On another matter I have a film of oil on top intercooler hose, it is the blue silicon type. Can not feel or hear any leaks, splits and not getting a cloud of black smoke. The car is sluggish at times though but that could be transmission.
Any suggestions on what to check for the oil film?

    cheers
