Side awning brand which is best value considering it’s something I’ll use infrequently pnly when explorer rack goes on.
Hah! Ditto. Got a freeby Kings awning from my son as it was part of a promotion for some tools he bought. Put it on the ProSpeed rack as I had a spare set of folding brackets to suit. Used it on our last Simpson/Flinders Ranges trip and it turned out to be a great bit of kit. Once back home, it is easy to remove and store.

						Hello,
Last week, my (much loved) Land Rover Discovery4 SDV6 3.0L T/D (140,000km) seized completely in peak hour traffic without any evident signs of warning.
Specifics:
- Purchased at a JLRA dealership new (2017)
- Entire service history with Land Rover at the recommended intervals and requirements
- Most recent service being 3 weeks ago, (84 month scheduled service, $3k+) where timing belts, injector pump belt kit, gasket cover and filters etc were all replaced. No other issues identified.
Land Rover service are conducting a review of the cause at my request. Early diagnosis is that the engine is unsalvageable, mechanical failure due to 'metal decay'.
It's hard to fathom how the engine failed only a few weeks (approx. 250km driven) after the major service, particularly when no issues were flagged for attention following this service.
Coincidence??
I have read a number of threads in the forum about this and they have been very insightful. Any thought welcome....
You have the best possible conditions to have a serious chat with LR.
Metal decay does not line up with known failures and in any case you serviced to their schedule.
Any extended warranty?
You might need a lawyer’s letter viz Australian Consumer Laws and fit for purpose. They will be doing an absolute contortion to escape this.
On said lawyers letter I’d also reserve your right very early to an independent inspection. This may prompt them to help if there’s any workmanship errors their side.
Problem ultimately is lack of new engines. Good luck and keep us informed.
A lady did fight them and win with her Range Rover you might find online.
Failing that the car guy in The Australian weekend is a great consumer advocate.

Super ModeratorSo it'll be a crank or an oil pump. Former more likely than latter. Best of luck with LRA, but being 7 years old I don't hold out much hope. The 2.7/3.0 engines seem fungible and LRA have a history of not giving a ****. Hope you get a decent outcome, but history isn't on your side.

						Thankyou for the insight.
No extended warranty on this one. I have looked into the ACCC law, VCAT options in VIC and more than prepared to pursue.
The independent inspection would be ideal to have as fall back to JLRA inhouse opinion. Any suggestions who could carry out such inspection?

SubscriberI can feel your pain. My 2014 D4 HSE did the same thing a month or so agobut we were stuck halfway between Moree and Boggabilla on a 40deg afternoon. The couple of extra years and 40k more klms meant it wasn't economical to repair. Waved it bye bye when it went on its final journey to the wreckers last week.
Bloody criminal that there has never been a recall in Australia. Our consumer laws are obviously not strong enough.
