Thread: What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Impressed with the fuel economy of Alaska (D4 2013 8 speed). 50% metro driving, 50% highway returned 9.8l/100km or 13c/km (actual figures not dash figures). In contrast our Mazda 2 returned 8.1l/100km and 11c/km.

Not really that much of a difference considering that Alaska is 3x larger and a stack nicer to drive. Pity that Alaska isn’t as cheap to service as the Mazda 2 tho.

Run down to Arrawarra last weekend,at the speed limit,long sections at 110k/hr,night trip back,mine did a calculated 9.2l/100.
Not loaded,just two people,dog,and a couple of things.

Equal to the best i have ever got out of it.

And i sit on what the GPS indicates,not the speedo,cruise on 80% of the time.

Not bad at all.

Just be keep in mind when modifying, John, a Bull bar is an almost 1l/100km addition and it goes from there...

Tyre choice will add 0.5-1.0l/100km also.

So if I get rid of the bar,go back to P rated tyres,I should get high 7’s?

Yes weight is a killer,but it made negligible difference to mine,the bar and tyres.

I’m aware. The D2 TD5 was averaging 13.8L/100km around town. I’d love to do a linking spreadsheet between the D2 & D4 fuel records to tell me how much fuel I’m saving by driving the D4 over the D2.

I’m really only looking at a bullbar +/- winch, snorkel and maybe (big maybe) rhino rack platform. Will keep a set of 100% street tyres and I’ve got a set of Maxxis AT’s in the shed

Got my unlock code from GAP this morning so played around with suspension heights, off road height plus 50mm looks pretty cool.

I do love the preset-able height control. Yes you have to connect it, but takes ten seconds, set, forget, then reset to normal at the end of the trip. Simple.

That's how I set it up to work on it. Wind it up, pop stands under the chassis and go at it. Hardly ever get the jack out anymore.
