Not too sure what went on there - once my wife got home I had another look and the door opened first try. Couple of pry bars and I've managed to bend the hinge to a point where its close to where it previously was. Interestingly where the door hit the carport beam was the plastic handle part and not the tailgate itself (see circled area on image). I was actually surprised that the plastic didnt break and it was the hinge area that gave way first

The plastic bit is just the cover. The base is steel and is securely bolted to the door frame.

Put in new expansion tank. No more "Low Coolant" error.
Why do they make things so hard to get at, that lower hose clamp is a bitch.

Did you remove the headlight does that help?

No, I watched a how-to youtube vid from American British and read through the workshop manual, no mention of removing headlight. The A/C hoses are a PITA. Got myself one of those hose clamp tools with the cable, just a tight spot to get too.

Photo shows headlight removed during winch fitting. Obviously you wouldn’t remove bumper for coolant bottle changing but headlight removal alone does provide a lot more room.

Finally got some time to give the exterior some tlc after a 4WD through some spiked shrubbery that left decent pin stripes down both sides.

i had bought an electric polisher ToolPRO Car Polisher 180mm | Supercheap Auto a while ago.

so washed and dried the car as usual, then sprayed all panels with turtle wax’s caranuba shine. Turtle Wax Express Shine Carnauba Spray Cleaner Wax - 473mL | Supercheap Auto

buffer the whole car front to rear top to bottom.

pretty impressed with the result and the overall paint job on these cars still amazes me.

no more pin stripes on the black window uprights, none on the panels bar two.

i did clay bar the car last year, which removed a lot scratches, but polishing with caranuba cleans it up nice
