I am thinking about WOT as frankly that is all that matters. If you aren't at WOT then more throttle gives more power. You might suggest that EGR alters the slope throttle/power delivery curve, although I didn't feel a difference when I programmed mine out. If I have the same amount of power on tap, then they haven't reduced power output.

The idea is to use recirculated gas whenever full power isn't required to reduce chamber temperature which significantly reduces the production of oxides of nitrogen. Theoretically you can do that at any point of the power curve, but they program them up such that when you need more right foot they close up to allow more oxygen into the cylinder.

Even the old petrol EGR systems had a solenoid to ensure they are shut off at WOT.

Frankly, if the EGR wasn't such a huge point of crippling unreliability in these motors I'd have left it in place. Same with the DPF, but the issues far outweighed the "no black smoke and no smell", so out it went.

Removing the Cat increases the diesel smell.

Yesterday - new starter battery (unplanned )

Today - two new tyres and a wheel alignment (planned).

So if i blank out my EGRs ill have cleaner intakes, including no oily exhaust fouling my turbo exhaust turbines, more power and better fuel economy and no risk of oil in the coolant via the egr coolers.

More power equals more load on the crank and through the transmission, so what to do. Atm both mine are still working perfectly, but id like to delete them just the same....

Cleaner intakes is the reason to blank them.

Power increase and fuel economy will be negligible.

I read somewhere that once done the engine will take longer to warm up,but don't know if that is true.Didnt really notice any difference with mine but we don't get extremely cold weather here.

Update on my EGR delete. Definitely more power and the engine seems smoother on acceleration. The inlet manifold turbo noise is very much diminished as well. Because there is more power doesn't necessarily mean you plant your foot and use it, but it is reassuring to know it's there. All in all a much nicer drive. Nick

Kindly explain that to my wife...

Installed new auxiliary battery to go with the new starter battery last week.

Just smiled at it (D4) as I walked right by on the way to get in the work LV.

Tonight I spent a few hours clearing up the workshop to make room as it’s getting some preventative fluid changes this weekend.

I have made some draws for the D4 gave them a test in the weekend worked great.
It has 60 litres of water storage. The fridge slide fits a 40 litre fridge. The sloping draw design is to follow the contour of the the cargo barrier so as much space is used up. All in all very happy.

    Chinese Glass

Drove all the way into the city with 2 cars to get the D4 windscreen replaced only to find the new screen was no good. So we drove all the way home again!

Installer found another 4 or so screens in Aus...all on the big island...so will have to wait another week or so to get one.

Installer also said the supply of glass for cars and houses is drying up with no supplies from China for a while. Even when production gets going again all glass will go to US and EU as (he said) China don't really care about Aus.

Why the heck we have become so beholdent to China is simply a matter of greed. Sure importers make big margins on Chinese and other Asian goods but look what happens when the supply dries up😐

Now India is going to cut off supplies of certain drugs eg paracetamol🙄
