Installed a couple of Fire Extinguishers in the D4

Decided to finally install a couple of new 1Kg ABE Fire Extinguishers in the D4, previously I have carried one in the camper trailer... but as most of the cooking and potential fire risk is around the back of the D4 it makes sense to have them firmly affixed within easy reach for there... or an engine fire (heaven forbid). One in the back and the second forward of the cargo barrier where it can be behind the back seat (when the seats are up... but they are typically down flat when camping).

    D4 Fire Extinguisher 2.jpg
Affixed to a handy little ledge on the drawer leading edge next to the cutoff switch for the water pump. Pretty solid clamp and bracket holding them in place.

Again, within easy reach alongside the Lithium Box.

There is also a fire blanket tucked away to the left of the fridge drawer, and will keep the original 1Kg ABE extinguisher (OK & pressurised) in the front tool section of the POD trailer. Hopefully I will never need any of them

    Nice install.
If you get an engine fire though - let it burn.
Vehicle will be a write off regardless.

    Hi Naps.

May I suggest that you move the thermos behind the cargo barrier if that's its usual home shown in the picture. I assume the extinguisher in the same pic cannot come loose in a severe impact/stop. Flying objects can cause a lot of personal damage. Just a thought.

Had to take the Disco back to the mechanics because of incontinence after having the transmission pan and oil done a few weeks back. Allegedly they bought a bad gasket. Being replaced when the get a different one in next week

In my experience the thicker duoprene gasket works much better with the steel pan than the standard thickness gasket.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

This weekend’s project arrived. A generic no brand android 9 inch head unit which slots quite nicely into the D3’s centre dash cubby.

Although with the lockdown I have installed it in the office to test it out. Here it is next to the iPad mini which I normally use in the car.

First impressions are good. Despite the much lower resolution to the iPad the display is very clear.

May have to buy another for the office. Hooked it up to some speakers and the office stereo is now perfect.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Are you referring to the Car Launcher? - that is a free launcher called CarWebGuru.
