Hi Josh,
I note you said after the Coolant flush, you would change to "Cat" Coolant. I presume this means Caterpillar. YEs?
Why is Cat better please?
Can you buy it retail?
What colour is it?
Thank you,
Jeff

CAT ELC $30 for 4L of premix.
I’ve always run this in our Td5 D2 it’s identical to the original Texaco product used by LR.
It’s orange.

I work for a caterpillar dealer, but before this I tested different coolants in fleets..I also worked in an overseas mine that only used it.. Im a massive fan on their coolant and oil. The coolant has all the right addictive's and is silicate free etc.. I get a good staff discount and don't have to go anywhere to buy it. It's in every thing I own, My parents own and I service. In my opinion it's red..
That's why it isn't in my dirt bike. I put the brightest green coolant in that so I can see a leak on the ground when out for a ride.
Hi Josh.
Greatly appreciated. Thank you for the insights.
Safe travels.
Jeff.

Thank you Josh and JWB,
Yep, I know that the colour of the coolant, which is obliviously just due to a dye, will have no heat exchange benefits at the engine/liquid interface, nor at the radiator interface. I have observed that different manufacturers of coolant, use different coloured dyes to differentiate the end product and create brand awareness.
As I didn't know that Caterpillar made and sold their own brand of coolant, I wondered what colour it might be. Good to know these things and thank you for filling me in.
Also really interesting to learn about benefits of coolant colour in a dirt bike. Thank you Josh.
I am really enjoying getting involved with the group and learning all things Land Rover from the members of AULRO.
Thank you to all. Bon weekend.
Kind regards and safe travels,
Jeff

Finally put an end to my compressor issues. Which I just add only started when I chose to do a piston seal for no reason other then I had one. I used to just do the desiccant every 50k anyway. Long story short.. the compressor wasn't sounding right. Slow ish. I had a voltage drop issue between the relay and the plug. End up having to cut the harness on the car back about an inch from the plug and then replacing the compressor harness. So off came the compressor again. Soldered the new wiring to the brush plate and put it all back together again. All I had on the day was 50amp Anderson's. So I soldered the wires into them and water proof heat shrunk em in. Just means if I ever get a new compressor I'll have to change the plug.
In hindsight. I'd never do a piston seal again.
Loaded the kayak onto the disco and took the kids for a paddle.
