The MOT records show the recall was done before it left the UK, but I have a strong suspicion the recall wasn't done on the donor vehicle the replacement engine came out of.

    Bugger.
Newbie question.. What am I looking at here? Not good, sadly for you.

Had this fitted (Summit winch bar).

However I'm not happy for a number of reasons. Mainly the large (3cm) gap from the top of the bar to the grill and headlights i.e. the bar is sitting too far forward in my view. Before paying I sent it back to ARB and got the reply "that was the best we can do" and "on these the chassis and the body are seperate". (Treating the customer as an idiot = normal MO).

I'd like to compare notes with anyone who has an ARB Summit bar fitted to their post-update D4.

~75ml of oil sucked out of the brake booster. I didn't and don't have any operational symptoms so I might have kicked the can down the road a bit, but I'll end up having to replace the booster and potentially the master cylinder.

Unfortunately a relatively common issue on the 2.7 TDV6.

Nope. It’s correct. Otherwise you cannot get the grill out.

Only thing that should follow a line is the side profile at the guard.

Out of interest would you know how far out the bar extends from the front of the car compared to standard bumper?

I have limited garage length so need to be careful if I go down the path of bullbar/spare wheel carrier.

Replaced the dud SSB HVT-50D with a 70LD. Yeah, not happy with the life I got from the first, but hey ho. I bought locally this time so I can return it if it dies. I’m also going to look into getting some reflective sheet to reduce direct heat onto that battery.

Thanks! Here is a side shot. I think the gap could have been smaller i.e. they've cut more of the fender moulding than needed. There is a black edge applied to the leading edge of the fender moulding so the gap may appear even larger in this photo.

I had other issues with the install while I'm whinging.... the guard liner on the RHS was trapped up inside the bar instead of sitting down flush; all the bolts I could easily access had different amounts of torque applied... I can only hope that the critical bolts were torqued sufficiently (I will remove all the lower covers and check this in time); the front air control valve is moved to a nice bracket but the air pipes pass un-protected through a metal edge (risk of abrasion and leaks). Things to check before you leave the installer? Nope, you can only see these things with the covers removed.

No unfortunately not measured, but it does extend significantly - I estimate 20cm further than the standard bumper.

I agree that is sitting too far forward or they have trimmed too much off the front side fenders. My D4 had an ARB bar (csnt remember if summit or not) but i do know the back ends are different to yours in the photo.
On mine the black moulding was neaely hard up against the bar top edge and the gap between headlight and bar was smaller.

I do note that the mounting holes for the main part of the bar are slotted, so it is possible to adjust. Means supporting the bar on a trolley jack in the middle, loosening off the bolts (remove lower panels first) then pushing and lifting the bar back towards the headlights.20220205_173356.jpg

I hope the attached photos show what I mean, car is now sold so I can't go and check measurements for you.

After the Fraser trip, where I put it under water a few times. The noise from my steering wheel disappeared with my ability to turn corners.. Bit of a Google on here. Ordered a new lower steering column.. Changed it tonight. Easy job..hour tops.. can turn like a disco again.. It was starting to feel 79 ish
