New handbrake shoes didn't feel right, did the whole sequence from bodsy. Might have just been due for an adjustment from New. Seems to with perfect after another complete pull apart and check. Readjust..I was ready to put my old shoes back on.. new shoes.. New drums.. wasn't perfect..

Just to put it out there 309500ks today and original shoes, not worn enough to change..i drive through the brake whenever I feel like it. New shoes only 10k old.

Also did an oil change (cat 15w40 uls) (acea e9) and fuel filter.. Tomorrow might be LCA day

Checked the trans fluid level and as soon as I removed the cover I could see it had been leaking around the pan.
I found 1 bolt fairly loose and others that needed a slight nip up, level was down about 1L yet I've never had oil on the ground.
Drained and refilled , reset the adaptions and went for a drive. Still get the occasional P0730 incorrect gear ratio error but definitely drove better, I bought some Dr tranny to put but will wait a few days.

Started with R&R a new radiator to replace the 12 year old unit which had started weeping on the LHS (not at the tank but where a tube is joined to the end).

That kept me going Tuesday from 8pm until 5:30am Wednesday.

New radiator and coolant now in play. For those interested I run Penrite Blue.

Wednesday was 40°c so another late start finishing bleeding the cooling system. Then onto the next job, plumbing in the new Transmission cooler. Most of the work completed and an early night (01:00am)

Thursday was back to work (Budget and 5 year plan was flavour of the day). Thankfully inside as it hit just shy of 43° and my workshop cooler has recently failed What happened to your D3/D4 today?

20:30 headed back to the workshop (was only 32° by then outside) and replaced the transmission filter, did a flush (12 litres used) and buttoned it all back up. Penrite BMV used (second time I’ve used it without a single issue).

Quick test run around town, adding in a few laps of the hilly areas to load it up.

    Stable temps
    87°c Coolant
    90°c Engine oil
    72°c Transmission

Happy with that, tomorrow the van will be hooked up and off to Tumby Bay.

Whilst awaiting for transmission to cool I also managed to squeeze in a small repair to the van, reloaded a weekends worth of projies (300WSM 200gr Berger Hybrids for those that know), cleaned the ‘tool’ used to ‘send them’ on target and got the gear packed ready for the trip away.

Nothing like a relaxing week What happened to your D3/D4 today?. It’s now 03:20 and I’m done for the day!
Hard to justify LG6 with this news.

Looking forward to EGR cooler delete

Cheap!!! CAT genuine oil is great quality, I'm at 309k so the 40 makes sense, really so does the 15w , Ive been running it a while now, no drama, I think the engine looks cleaner through the filler hole, might be my guess. They run in it in million dollar engines, must be ok for me

Today was LCA day, both rears done in 3 hrs, but I reckon I found a bit of movement in the lower ball joints.. I'll order some now, not bad for 300k well done.

Has anyone bought a tool for the lowers, yes I have used hammers, but I love a good purpose made tool for jobs, let me know.. please don't tell me your, heat it up, 2 hammers.......

    The 40 does but the 15 doesn't.

Worn pumps pick up thicker oil easily, doesn't get real cold where I am anyway.
