    money well spent IMO
For something so simple its a waste of time taking it to a mechanic and the inconvenience outways the benefit.

Good to hear that it is working correctly although that obviously means things are not as flash as they once were...

Which compressor? The AMK was easy enough.

Not at all, he has all the tools and a hoist, just removing all the wheels to rotate them and check all the steering and brakes makes it worth it
I am sure there are some very passionate car owners that do their own service because they enjoy it but most who do it do it themselves is due to financial benefits
for me the inconvenience is a 45 minute road trip to drop it off and pick it up the next day, sometimes we just go out for lunch while it’s been done, not a inconvenience a luxury and a pleasure
A drive is more fun than crawling around under a car any day of the week

Get over yourself. If someone doesn’t want to do it and a supplier is welcome to do it, then let the market be that. We’re all aware you do everything yourself, but not everyone wants to or can be ****ed. Button up and let people do them.

With the whole servicing thing the other advantage I have by using a specialist workshop who does more Disco servicing, repairs and maintenance than you could count is they know every little detail and trick, they know all the components and all the common failure points so for someone like me who uses the car primarily as a touring vehicle who travels all over the country and some very remote areas having every small detail looked at and checked by someone knows exactly what they are looking at is vital
if it was just a run around town car with the odd camping trip it would be different
Another thing I have noticed after years of following this s forum very closely is that many who do their own maintenance have issue after issue with their vehicle, I have had zero issues with well over 100,000 km traveled and at times pushed the car the the absolute limit. coincidence of self maintenance and issues?
In many cases I don’t think so because people just aren’t as good or knowledgeable as they think they are

Another 'Plus' I have found with having a workshop do my work, is when something out of my expertise has occurred, I have a foot in the door, so to speak, to get it looked at. Also, on extended trips, I have been given a box of various spares and only paid for the items used, on my returning them.
Also, as mentioned, my aged spine does have its limitations.
