It would be good if it was light. A 110 should have a better load space than a D5. Stripped out of nonsense like electrically folding seats, tailgate, tailgate seat and other fluff should bring a 110 in at under 2 tons. Happy days. Cheers
Yeah haha, however will still be wind tunneled for efficiency imo. This will enable sub 10L per 100, maybe even on par with D5 due to more simplistic design, not as long? And not as much weight. Maybe 7L/100 with the 2L 4cyl
He is exterior design director so I thought worthy of a post.![]()

That fuel usage is in a “test” scenario.
In real life driving that will probably be nowhere near the mark,as per quite a few posts from people with D5.
As for accessories, the aftermarket suppliers may sit back and wait,as they did with the D5.
In fact ARB have no interest in developing anything for D5.
The Jimny is a different type of vehicle, probably easy to adapt accessories for,its old school.
The new Deefer will be complicated and need a lot more R and D.
They've already shown they can cut 450kg off the weight of the Rangie and D5 using aluminium and the Defender is using the same platform so weight savings are likely.
Agree with the fuel usage, quoted figures are always best case scenario, real world add an extra litre or 2 per 100
I have personally spoken to ARB regarding the D5, that may have been their position at the start however that was certainly not the position when I was speaking to them recently.
It seems all the big guns are starting to pay attention to the D5 now that they understand it, I think we are all in that boat myself for sure.
Agree it will be harder for the new Defender then the Jimny. But much more worth it.
The Jimny is one vehicle I certainly wouldn't be putting any heavy bar work on if I was wanting to have any payload at all.
Convoy of defenders tow testing spotted and another moab shot.
Just noticed there are three different types of trailers the middle one is double axle I'm guessing they are all filled to simulate max towing capacity.
