Did you notice the last quarter turned around to a significant profit?
Of course they had a profit in the last quarter cause they wrote down the costs of production or the cost of said item , so it instantly become cheaper so need less to make a profit . $120mill profit on the back of a 3.6bill loss leaves a lot of tax write in time to come.

My point is simple, when they don't launch the new pretender in all variants in all markets , the loss of 3.6bill will be used as an excuse. They seem to have avoided Australia in all testing and my view is we will see a very limited range hit our shores. You seem to see JLR as the knight in shining armour and that's admirable , but my $$$ are rapidly starting to look at non JLR options for a D3 replacement
Doesn't matter what way you spin it , 3.6billion hurts in more ways than 1. Read what I highlighted in your post, says a hell of a lot I think

And what I've found is that I needed the checker plate as the pressure from the tiny square area of stilettos with my 90kg is too bloody much for the thin standard panel!

Hmm some interesting points for sure.
From memory we have been over the AU testing before in this thread. And the reasons why we haven't seen them here are fair enough. As far as testing goes all the places they have chosen are more than sufficient for testing and in many ways surpass the extremes of Australia.They would be bringing cars here just for marketing and there is only so much cash to go around with their current savings program. But who knows we might see them at a later date.
Look at what happened in China with JLR, this was largely unexpected, however latest reports is that this has stabilized, electric everything will help them massively in China.
In real talk its not 3.6b its AU$6.7B
Of that AU$6.3b in extraordinary writedowns etc. (There stuff is worth less than previously thought)
They lost AU$667m in the last financial year.
Of that AU $278m was spent on 1 time fee redundancies.
That leaves a real normal loss of AU$389m which is not bad imo considering China was down nearly 50% + we can only imagine how many billions they are investing on electric everything and the development and testing of the new defender.
Now as previously mentioned in the last quarter we are back to AU$223m profit in the last quarter alone, if that's to continue for the next 12 months AU$750m-$1billion before tax profit is not an unreasonable assumption. However considering all the releases re: electric they have for 2020 it may be a little lower even considering all the new sales.
Knight in shining armour? hmm wouldnt go that far, but yeah the Cheif Turnaround Officer seems to be doing an amazing job, probs why he was just promoted to CFO.
We hear people taking a cheeky stab at the new defender by calling it a "pretender", whilst i respect opinions and understand why they feel the need to call it that, Some questions that may also be food for thought for anyone that calls it that, two things:
1. What was the D3 called when it was launched? (Multiple answers are correct here)
2. Considering the real defender only sold 15-20k(and we have 7.7billion people on earth), from a legitimate business case point of view, looking at what we know and have seen of the new Defender so far, what would you have done differently to the experts, whilst considering it needs to be sold globally in sustainable numbers to a wider audience between 2020-2030, whilst trying to keep Defender fans onside?
In regards to JLR's view of AU defender fans:
"Australia is one of the few markets that continued to sell the Defender right up to the end.
"So in a sense, the brand name is probably stronger in Australia because we haven't had this hiatus like some of the other markets who haven't sold it in a number of years. So that's a positive," said Krieger.
"The interest that new car commands is just huge."
