I doubt that you will see any EV 4WD's out at the mustering camps in the Kimberlie's and most certainly no new fangled Defender that will cost a small fortune will be found there.
There's an EV charging point at Warmun Community WA (Turkey Creek Roadhouse). I saw it a couple of months ago.

These 'non-existent' charging stations are moments away, not years. It will be exponential...far more rapid than compound interest that's for sure.

I can see electric vehicles taking off in safari camps or even farms or anywhere short distances per day are needed, plug in at night via solar, no fuel station trips needed or fuel drop off and super quiet to avoid spooking animals.

Since when has that ever happened? It’s half the fun and I think I’m one of the worst offenders to be honest... 😇😊. Someone’s always there to steady the ship and swing her back on course. 👍

I think I confused the EV figure with a hybrid figure. For example, the new Corolla hybrid can do around that if driven carefully in urban conditions.

Totally agree, if this thread never went off topic it would only have 3 pages

New defender has electric option, we are discussing the new defender and abviously the viability and suitability of such a vehicle in remote scenarios. Happy for you to start to start a new thread if this bothers you but probably better to keep it all in one place for now.

I think discussing the new Defender in the context of the end of fossil fuel is important in terms of "Won't be Retro". What could be more contemporary than the epic shift to EV's and Hybrids which is about to unfold around the world.

I reckon this is the real reason for the delay in the release of the next Defender. Hope they get it right and the new platform provides for a long distance hybrid in 2020 and in the future a full EV version.
