A bit of body roll maybe, just shows long travel suspension(thats a good thing) out of sorts nah, jeep, current defender and 79 dual cab would be on its side after a roll if taken around the ring at those speeds. Won’t be retro...

Needs rear airbags. I find they work well (and reduce seasickness).

    100% helper bags are great.
Probs already on airbags, unless this is a coil version

An old D2 with ACE fitted will do a better job of cornering that that mule

Most SANE people don't treat their 4WD's like sports cars and drive them accordingly as most decent 4WD's have a lot of "Flex" and wheel "Travel" which isn't much use for high speed cornering.
If the new defender can corner at high speeds well then you have to wonder if its off road capabilities have been sacrificed somewhat to allow this.

Sane and insane people in 4wds have kangaroos jump out infront of them etc at 110kph and they need to be safe to swerve around them if safe, something which many 4x4s are not.

Its about finding the perfect balance between on an offroad. Not just being onroad biased or offroad biased.

If a 4x4 is extremely capable offroad and safe onroad, it is extremely hard to do without some bodyroll.

Bodyroll in the shots shows long travel, but also its not excessive, so looks good to me.

The article pointed out the defender looked out of place at the Nurburgring, I agree from a cornering point of view compared to the usual supercars or an SVR, however as has already been pointed out, the ring is about much more than cornering, hence why JLR have a permanent base there.

No sane person would swerve around a kangaroo at 110km/hr. It’s 4x4 driving 101.

In some circumstances its safer to swerve slightly if safe especially if its a big daddy kanga , modern 4x4s can swerve safely, we had a mate killed in a hilux that tipped after a car swerved to avoid a kanga.

Sometimes its not you its others you need to worry about.

There are hundreds of circumstances a 4x4 needs to swerve in an emergency.

Hence swerve tests when engineering 4x4s.

The point is a safe 4x4 must be able to swerve and corner safely at speed, as we know this is one of the things lacking in the old defender. 5 star safety rating is what they will be going for in the new one.

    Yes all vehicles are tested.

I like the body roll of my Defender. Apart from off road travel, it also promotes safer driving and taking it easy. The number of drivers pushing their vehicles to the limit on our highways (and local streets!) is frightening. Less speed cornering ability might actually be a good thing. Hopefully the new Defender is rubbish at it and that’s what the newburgering phots show.

Seriously, Defender isn’t a sports car. That’s what every other Land Rover model is trying to be.
