Considering a base FPace is $60k in Brisbane I’m thinking of upping my base SWB prediction to $80k before you start ticking 2ooo dollar options boxes? MWB will be base price of $90k is my guess?

What blew me away was the price delta from FPace and Epace (base ~$60k) up to the Ipace ($157k) !!!!!!! Pretty unlikely to make that 100k saving in fuel burn - ever!!!

Who knows mate, I think myself and others have been of the opinion a base swb defender will come in under a base disco 5 @ RRP 65k I believe. 60k would be a great starting point, if the base is utilitarian as they say, it will have less stuff compared to a D5 allowing a lower price. But who knows it might be that good they can charge a higher price above the D5 base?

And perhaps JLR will make a low key minimal electronics package

But history tells us that model WONT make it to Aus (D3/4 Africa base models vs Aus base model)

As you say though all the bells and whistles might be reserved for the SVX type models?

We need to replace the “soccer mum” xtrail at some stage
If it is possible to get a 6 or 7 seat MWB (110) with reasonable load space and with reasonable engine & drivetrain for 60 ish it would be in the mix. Obviously I like to do maths on PHEV but my gut says that’s gonna be 100 plus ponies which is crazy IMO

The above is of course completely dependent on the final thing not looking like arse. Current opinion of said soccer mum is - very sub-optimal styling. “Looks terrible” is a close enough quote!

Anyways, I’ll be super interested to see what Australia gets vs ROW

D5 S coiler is avail in AU for $64kish I believe according to 4x4 Australia mag? I believe S variants are coils.

Svx is high performance offroad, svr is high performance onroad. SVO is special order stuff.

Is that the version that has no low range ?

Be interesting to see if the 2020 comes in under the luxury car tax threshold.

Not sure, just updated post..low range is an extra and rightly so as some applications (commercial) or non hardcore overlanding/touring as they simply don't need it with the 8 speed auto, would be wrong to make people pay for something they don't need imo.

85% of the 4wds of any brand sold in Australia wouldn't need low range as they wouldn't see much more than a dirt road or 2. I haven't heard of anyone listing them as an optional extra. Would be interesting to see how many without the low range box get sold.

I thought I seen posted that the base D5 with low range starts at $72K then start adding from there. Last I read the L.C.T started for vehicles over $75K , so you don't need to add much before the wallet will start to get very light very quickly, as I think the LCT is 30%... ouch

    Hi Ean,

The little Sd4 motor series of D5 has no low range. For that Sd6. So Sd6 with Air suspension and terrain response (Yep...an option on the SE) and metallic paint (and not even blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control etc etc ...very expensive options) is $110,000 on the road on Queensland. This is the min costs to get you the same basic underpinnings of off road ability as the very base model Disco 4...that's a bit of a jump Won’t be retro....

    Cheers
