I get what you are saying but the difference is all that who-har over drive flanges and ECUs is inconsequential compared to the complete shift in overall utility that is occurring this time round.

The change is like from 45/75/78 workhorse cruiser to 60/80/100/200

    It’s a different genre

    Workhorse to SUV/ 4WD wagon/soccer mum thing

There is no workhorse in this LR2020 offering

I think you’re right. The new Defender might be a light weight 1 tonne work horse compared to the last Defender, and more comparable to a Nivara, Hilux or Amorok.

I think that’s a commercial reality, and the alternative was a Defender with no connection with its heritage like the D100 concept.

These cards to me look like prototypes not final versions, but they more than likely are an indication of what we are going to get.
Having a 130 wagon would be good - three rows of seats and luggage space - but will it really have a 40cm overhang at the back? Or is the wheelbase listed on the slide wrong?

According to the latest exchange rates on xe.com. I hope this is for one of the higher spec 110 models. Maybe the 90 will come in around the <60k mark. But we will probably just ripped off here like we do with everything else. Guess I'll be waiting for a second hand 2020 model about 2032.

My guess is around 65-150k, cheaper for the 90?

Looks like a 110 back at the ring with same level of camo as the earlier posted 90..I'm liking the black underneath, things going to stand out big time on the road. I guess not dissimilar to the gwagon but with hopefully a lot better looks.

UK vs Australia pricing isn’t as simple as xe.com
42,ooo Quid will buy you a HSE Dynamic Evoque in the UK

You’ll need about 100,ooo Australian Pesos to buy the same vehicle here?

Hopefully there estimate of 40,000 is for middle to top range model!

Following on from Andrews post of nut wanting a coiler, I'm just surprised at how short the wishbones are.
Way back when mucking around with race cars we'd make wishbones as long as possible.
I spent hours and days redesigning suspensions and that was my starting point.
Better camber change curves, less camber change in roll and pitch (braking) and we were only using 40mm of wheel travel in the front end!

Look at an öff road race buggy.
The bottom wishbone basically meet at the middle of the chassis for this reason.
Look at the Pajero, nice, long links, something leant from designing Dakar cars.

Why is the D3/4/5 and now this one so short?
    It really compromises ultimate articulation.
And before anyone mentions CV's, you mount them or tripod joints inside the diff side plate to get your driveshaft length to match the wishbone length.
It makes everything so much neater and easier
