    good news... and the rest

Couple of pics of the v2 RAI on Captain's P38

    Nice colour coding job Captain!

Did a fitting of the recast V3 RAI today with custom head on to my P38.

Head now sits flush/lower than roofline.

Also changing the way it mounts to the A-pillar. Two holes required through the plastic trim, but not big notches any more.

That head? It is integral to the RAI itself. If you want to swap for a Safari, Mantec or other, you will need to cut it off and adapt the other head.

Timing you ask? Has it been a year already? Another week for this mould to be made, tested, painted (GM Black) and then fitted to a car for road testing. My blue or black Rangies are the likely candidates but fitting is restricted by my availability... considering asking for a volunteer in W/SW Sydney who can make themselves available for fitting and testing of the RAI (might be one visit, might be a few)... downside is you will have a hole in the front LH guard and some damage to the LH A-Pillar... upside is you will get to kep the RAI as a thank you.

    Cheers, Paul.

    Paul

You can cut into mine if you like.

Looks like you did the last one at 'Footrot Flats'!

It looks like the bonnet might open to the 90deg postion with V3 - is this the case?

    Bonnet Function - 100%

Hi - Everyone just to confirm you get 100% bonnet function with V2, I can't speak for V3 but the lads are fine tuning. If anyone lives Northside Sydney PM me if you want a closer look.

Pending what the lads want to do I'll try and put some photo's up of my finished project.

Thanks for dropping by Captain... the rest of the pics you sent me are up in the Gallery.

Scouse - the V1, 2 and 3 RAI's allow the bonnet to open to at least the 90deg position.

Trev - that was another "Footrot Flats", not the one we frequent in Canberra.

    Cheers, Paul.

Paul, I know you want someone handy to Sydney, but perhaps having one getting around Melbourne wouldn't hurt either.

Say I manage to get "the pig" up there... Do you think I could leave her with someone responsible to bang the snorkel in? And perhaps you can throw the lift kit in the boot and bang the big (black) hardrange sill stickers on at the same time!

I need to spend a week or so in Bris-vegas soon and could jump up there and then hitch a lift back to drive her home again afterward.

Sounds complex, but happy to play along for the benefit of the Vic team!

    Dave

P.S. Is the latest version embossed with "harden up", or HRA logo, or something?
    Hoo-Roo,

    Dave.

Dave - Andy would have to be the "responsible" party so we'll need to check with him. We have a Sydney-based donor now who is well known to us all as giving considered, frank and honest advice...

I am all for having a Victorian "demo" vehicle too and you are 'da man ('coz you feed and ply me with alcohol)

Branding design of the RAI is in progress, but not the highest priority next to getting the RAI right.

Next priority is to make it sleeved near the bend at the A-pillar to allow easier shipping for interstate and o/s buyers. Guess that will be v3.5 or 4.

Regarding the branding, am happy to take suggestions and artwork mock-ups from the forum. Perhaps we offer a reward for the one we adopt?... after all, it will be your cars that wear it

    Cheers, Paul.
