That oka is sweet, never thought to put a duramax in one of those. Can you post some pics in the members. Would love to have an actual look at this one day.
Thanks for the offer of diagrams! Brakes definately would get a pizzling with the increased HP! I'll flick you a PM when getting closer. No stress on the videos.. I know everyone loves a vid! lol.
Cant say the 'rado. is mine.. work for a company that does conversions...
The Oka goes REALLY well.. certainly dosnt brake as well as it accelerates!!
If you need any info or diagrams.. dont be afraid to shoot me a PM and can either fax thru manual pages or happy to quiz the auto sparkys

Hi Vern,
Have a look at this thread over in OKA land.
The OKA Forum :: Topic: Duramax / Allison 6spd / Nissan TC conversion (1/2)
He claims he is doing 16.8 second 400m, (half what it was with the Perkins), with a finish line speed of 134 km/h, in a truck weighing in at 4.86 tonnes. And struggling for traction off the line.

Thats pretty impressive! They are a beast of a motor.Hi Vern,

Mmmmm, keep thinking Duramax and 101 in the same sentence... No, sorry. I'll be quiet!![]()
Hi Gaz69.
Any more progress? Very interested now, as I sold the Pootrool, and have the 130 up for sale (just not using it enough, don't need 4 seats and shouldn't be using it as a daily drive when I have my imported TD Golf in the shed!).. My last post might have to happen now.... Well, in the form of a 220hp 6Bt against that Allison 1000 6 speed in a 101 (as I don't think a Duramax will physically fit between the two wheel arches/seats!!) .... Any pics of your handy work/conversion making that auto fit the LT230? Guessing you might have to use an Ashcroft Center Diff assy too... Looked into the front Salisburys too before I changed direction... Might be worth looking at the shafts in yours as I've since learned that its only the diff that's bigger... HyTough are still doing shafts and I believe he does them for a Salisbury Front...![]()
Sitec,
No More progress as currently in the US on holidays. I did by another Duramax and Allison while i was here buts thats another story!! I have got 35 spline axles sitting on my bench at home for the rear and will worry about front ones later. Might need a fusible link somewhere anyway!
Cheers

Fusible link! Never heard it put like that before! Been looking at the Allisons myself... Allison 1000 6 speed with stand alone ECU so I can run it behind an older Cummins 6Bt with mechanical pump. Do know for a 24valve already coupled to a 6 speed but not sure I fancy getting my head round fly by wire diesel in a 1977 vehicle! America eh! Lucky bugger!!Enjoy!!
Seen plenty of cummins, power strokes and duramax's while cruising the us the last 4 weeks. Amazes me when one of theses flies past me about 75 MPH uphill towing a 40 foot trailer! You couldn't go wrong with a cummins. The duramax's is certainly wide. I don't have much room around mine
Cheers

Hi Gaz69.
Well, progress has been made my end. Now have a 101 and a Cummins in the shed.... Sadly the Allison was not to be as a 101" wheel base with a pair of Salisburys leaves little room in the middle. The Cummins came from the UK with a 5 speed ZF gearbox behind it so I've made an adaptor to go between it and an LT230. I'm hoping to keep the engine in the correct place behind a slightly enlarged original rad. It'll give me a 400/500mm rear prop! With the spare wheels mounted at the rear along with a large hydraulic winch should balance it all up. I've worked out which gearing to go with as well... 255/100r16 tyres, 1.222:1 Transfer case, and 3.54 diffs should give me 124kph at 2500rpm.
Any more progress on yours? Must be nearly ready to drive...???
