    Can't be, that's rational

Good thought though. I was more surprised than anything else.

Wait until you try and fit the new shocks, rubbers, washers and split pins.
Getting the spilt pin in can be a challenge.
Something to look forward to !!

Keep up the report. Photo's are great too !!

I must wander over to my #umpteen dozen project which is a 1957-8 SWB series one to see what spring hanger plates that has on it, I'm pretty sure all the Series Ones had threaded shocker mounts on the spring plates.

The split pins can be a bother to get back in when fitting new rubbers, but are easy to do if you make an adapter, get a decent sized 'G' cramp and make your self a bit of cut off 3/4"?? pipe with a slot cut across it, clamp that adapter against the washer and side the split pin through, - see it's easy now what was I saying?

This is the tool that I made many years ago, just a short length of water pipe, with a hole drilled through, cut down to the hole using a hacksaw, big G cramp and bob's your uncle

    cheers Dennis

    Looks good. Thanks.

Should I ask what the chain and padlock were for?

Thanks Dennis, mine wasn't so good looking, then I threw it away afterwards and definitely didn't take a picture of it.
