    brake and clutch pedals

    1 the joys of undoing bolts that just don't want to come out, other bolt came out this one not so easy so out with the grinder in the end

    2 prev owner ? welded the bloody pads onto the pedals, damn it. prob to keep them in place

    3 had another set of pedals, but look closely and the base on one has a bulge bit of steel the other nothing

    4 again two diff sets here, one has a more pronounced groove to bolt up the pedal (same but different)

    5 ID numbers different for the two pedals that came out of the LR, maybe diff numbers for d/s to p/side. also all the extra welds grinded off after removing the pads. Only seem to see pads for series 2,3 etc not series one, do S1 brake and clutch pedals supposed to have these pads fitted???

    bulkhead bolts removed as well, next to remove the bulkhead to finish off the rust repairs and better access to the chassis

    Quote for seats, hood and hoodsticks

    Craddocks quote shipping add 280 pounds according to them
    excluding GST and Import tax...
    includes full seat set, hoodsticks and canvas for 86inch. think will come close to $3000

    The main cost for the freight is for the bows. , mate of mine got Craddocks to cut his bows in half then re-joined then when they arrived to cut the freight cost. My 1/2 cab tilt cost less than $500 & 3 days delivery from Craddocks about 5or 6 years ago , The GST & import deputy adds to the cost plus Craddocls used to use TNT for delivery But I believe they have been taken over an American Co & they have pushed up the freight cost
    Us freight Co's are expensive when I buy parts for my old BMW from the US the parts may cost $10 but the freight is $100& comes in a post bag.

    more done

    1-2 loosened off and removed the bolts for the brake master

    3 this starter cover looks to me to be fabricated and welded, not original

    4 this bracket came off the face of the brake master cylinder not sure if its original or not???

    bulkhead removed, you beauty...

    another update

    5 removed the alternator, put into storage for later

    4 is this a series starter motor or a holden starter?

    3 the dreaded relay, should this come out now, have taken all bolts off, BTW this would not turn side to side without a good hammer, should it freely move side to side

    2 firewall removal and part clean, not much to see here

    1 as is for now with the boss looking on bored as usual

    Holden and Rover starter motors were probably both made by Lucas - some numbers (should be stamped on it) might help.

    Relay. Have you removed the ring bolted to the bottom of the chassis that should be a tight fit on the bottom of the relay? If you have, there is nothing except rust holding it, and it should come out upwards. If you can move it side to side with a hammer, there is a good chance that you will be able to get it out. Move it from side to side, and put penetrating oil down the join between the relay and the chassis. Try to avoid hitting it hard enough to damage it.

    It looks like a Lucas starter motor to me. Every Holden six that I have worked on has had a Bosch starter with an integral solenoid. I would suggest that your starter originated as a Land Rover unit. What are the numbers on it?

    update

    all relay bolts including bottom have now been removed completely
    no id numbers as far as i can see on the starter motor

    and then this happened... one step fwd two steps back, just removing bits n pieces off the engine to paint and the outer ring came off and the centre remained on the block, bugger

    Not uncomon on Holden motors , did you use a Holden Harmonic balancer puller or just try levering or hitting it off. From the looks of the rubber it needed replacing anyway , would have let go in the not too distance future.
