Not to mention the safety element of bits falling off as one drives merrily down the road.By the time one gets to where one is going all that will be left is the steering wheel one is holding on to.

1. a lot of sanding to get the chassis to this point but looking better then before
Need lots more to do but dying to get some paint onto the chassis and begin rebuilding her. It is all time consuming work but rewarding at the same time when you see it progress each day.
Land Rover
1. new piece of steel cut to shape and folded on one side, may need heat to bend the other side though as its shorter with less leverage
Land Rover
1. steel cover bent over in the vice no heat required. one side done and welded, sanded into position, now to do the other end. got some more supplies cutting and grinding discs from bunnings but pushing ahead at slow pace.

1 bought some new paint from bunnings 1L, $32 which i was happy to get more if 1L is not enough for the chassis but the bunnings man was telling me its no longer made silver enamel paint or very hard to find, (which i find hard to believe). I wanted an enamel silver paint that looked bright like freshly gal steel, thats the look im after. found the cold gal was a dull darker grey colour which i have sanded most of the chassis
2 here is a small sample painted by brush on the rear member, and the paint is so heavily (watered down) light that it almost holds no paint at all, very disapointed and will return to get some proper paint.

1 firewall sanded back before shot, was worried might rain so needed some paint fast
2 state of my tin of green paint, still good paint underneath all that crap
3 after shot of painted firewall - paint protection for exposed areas. may spray paint the entire firewall once done
4 chassis progressing slowly, lots more welding, welding rod holder needed some repairs but working better now
decided against using this horrible paint so still looking at silver paint options, another bunnings store surprisingly said similar that they can tint a white base to silver but don't have much in choice of a silver paint ???

I’m just wondering as I am at a loss, as to why you would feel the need to “body fill” the chassis at all. (??).
I can’t say I’ve ever been under any Land Rover, either series Or even my old 2011 Defender, that doesn’t have spatter etc everywhere. They look so rough to start with.
