Don't drive it down the main drag ..... could have the chicks chasin ya.
Well, I could be back into the ol ute this weekend as the problem with olmate was the 3 month old alternator. Charging to over 17 volts on and off, causing the Amp guage to smoke and flicker. Will be replaced tomorrowand yes - I can do that
Might put the battery in olute this weekend and give her a kick in th guts![]()

Well - I put the battery in (after modifying the batt rack to take a 17 plate battery). She runs well. Clutch and brakes do what they are meant to; very happy now. Just need to finish off the battery clamp that I am making to take the bigger battery and that will be that bit done.
My ignition warning light (red central top on dash) comes on when the key is turned on and stays on whilst the car runs; doesn't go out....Any suggestions??? The alternator is charging and the idle is set right - its gotta be something else.
I hope so anyway. Not having a good run with Landy's and electrickery this week.

Howdy Troy , Isn't the red light for the oil pressure as well ..... might have a dickie oil pressure switch or a loose wire some where ..... could be wrong. If not stand back and throw a bucket of water at the electricals and see if it goes out then lol

Mick,
The book says the oil pressure light is the green one on the lower left of the dash. Looks like its the bucket of water trick mate![]()
It's the alternator light my good man ... check connections and wires![]()
I'm onto it (well later, as I have found the taste for beer - again).Possibly the weekend.

Wanted - 1 Alternator.....Took it off this arvo and she rattles. I take it that this is the problem.
Well, if it isn't, its not good enough to go back on.
How that, 2 x alternators this week. Olmates was replaced amd now the olutes will need ot be as well.![]()
New (well - reco) alternator into the ol ute and also put in a couple of guages that I had been wanting to get to. Also finished of some of the wiring around the battery and cleaned up with heat-shrink etc. She is sounding sweet but every now and then, when I turn the ignition on, the horn sounds.... so thats my next trick to sort out I spose.
Shall finish off a couple of floor bolts tomorrow and paint the middle section for my seat box and that will probably do me for the weekend.
Olmate does need a drop of oil in the gearbox so that will be done as well![]()
