What product did you use to strip the paint?
I used 'Diggers' which on its' label says 'industrial strength', but in practice was far too mild and took a very long time to react (bubble/blister). It is a non-caustic formula (bio-degradable), and so would be kinder to birmabright, but is a labourious process.
Also with your welding up of the holes, did you use MIG or TIG ??

Hi Harry i use septone automotive paint stripper , But when you use it you need to use prep wash after it to nutralise it. It is strong & burns the nostrals , throat & eyes. Also burns the skin & feet if working in thongs
.
So for on Harry i have only needed to do 2 coats to get it back to bear aluminium.. You should scratch the surface before you apply it or any paint stripper , But if you scratch it to deep you will have a lot of work when it comes to painting as it will show through. Although i scratch mine to deep i use a good quality high fill etch primer..
Also keep you scraper clean & sharp..

Cause the paint is so think on Harry the first coat does'nt bubble much at all but second coat nearly bubbles instantly..

SECOND COAT

AFTER SCRAPING OFF & WIPING WITH PREP WASH.

Hope that helps..

With the welding on the baulk head that was with a MIG as its steel..
Keen to have a go on a TIG tho..

As for the holes in the rear window panel I cant weld those as i dont have a tig or gas mig for alumium..
So i will fiberglass them from the inside & use a good body filler on the outside..
