I'm back from my trip so I will get to that pulley for you over the next couple of days... have to clean the D90 and camper and fix a couple bits on the camper that broke.
I just got a RWC on my camper after doing a few little jobs to it hope you did not break anything serious.

My sympathy on the tooth. I recently had a successful tooth repair, but was fearful of that sort of outcome!

You know me John I grind my teeth very badly so its not the first failed RC but it still hurts the wallet even if you get used to the pain.

Got a coat of colour on the tub today but had to start cutting the hay so it will be slow going tomorrow until that is done.

I spent most of yesterday fishing with my daughter so did very little to the Bunyip but my wife and I lowered the tub back onto the chassis tonight so I am very happy to be moving forward again.

I riveted all the Gal trim back onto the tub and ran new wire through the chassis to the rear for the lights and also a heavy two core wire so I can get plenty of juice to the back for accessories.

I have reinstalled the original loom to the dash but think I will pull it apart just for a look now I know where everything goes. I remember a dodgy looking ignition wire and a fuel pump mounted on the left guard that had failed when I got the car. I bypassed those to get it to run. I think its worth unwrapping the loom just to be sure.

Here are some pictures of the tub on the chassis

I refitted the tail gate to the tub mostly to get it out of the way but I am unhappy with the way it fits It seems as though the only way to get it to sit in the hole is high and rotated clockwise. It was cockeyed like this in the last tub so I might be expecting a bit to much for it to fit better. I think I will loosen all the rear tub bolts and try pushing the tub to the left hand side maybe that will help align the hinge bars and allow me to get the gap closer.

A couple of post back I mentioned the dodgy coil wire I suspected so I have unwrapped the loom and inspected the wiring.
I found the coil wire had indeed melted at some point when the PO fitted some new points and dead shorted the key wire.
I removed the wire and remade a new one to match the loom colours but I have discovered another in a secondary section that I am not sure about so I will have to be careful when refitting the wiring because something shorted it out before and I don't want to have a fire. I think I will add some fuses to the circuits that have none.

Re: your tail gate. Did you try undoing the bolts on the hinge of the tailgate? My gate has a fair bit of movement on the holes. Although thinking about your paint job of course you have tried that... don't worry about me.

By the way, I haven't forgotten about that pulley. I am getting to it... seems every time I go out to Dad's with my tools there is other jobs that get priority eg. fix the leaking taps.... I will try again tomorrow.

Yep I put the gate on the tub then put the hinges on, I thought I must have stuffed up the mounting measurements on the pivot points when I repaired the rear chassis section but they are exactly where they were and even match the ones on the two other chassis I have here so it has to have something to do with the tub or the gate its self. I will shove the tub over first and see if I can get any movement out of those bolt holes because there is none left in the hinge bolts and its only about a 1/3 of a bolt hole thats needed.
If all else fails I will cut the drivers side mount off and move it over about 10 mm because that would let the gate sit dead center in the tub and leave the tub centered on the chassis.

Don't stress on the pulley I have to get the other one off yet and it seems a little stuck.

Can't believe it's been so long since I had a moment to spend on the Bunyip but I guess that's what happens when you get busy. I have some leave now andnot all of it will be spent in the bush hunting and fishing.

I got the tub a bit squarer on the chassis but the thing is nowhere near as square as the old one and sits square across the back and one side but is narrow at the front so will not make fitting the doors easy.
I am tempted to repair the old one and put it back on.

I fitted a second tank under the passenger seat at the cost of tool box space. Might start on some of the mechanical stuff, as it's just too hot in the shed to do body work or paint anything at the moment.
