Thanks Gents.
Just the pics I need, to make one.
My manifold has a bolt not stud, but makes sense why some pics show it as a stud.
If you look at the left hand stud, the one of 4 holding the two manifold together, is as mine, longer than the other 3.
Have found a few pics online, of a extra lug attaching the heat shield to it.
was this why it was longer I wonder.
Bob, what is the 4 inch flat bracket to the right of the carby, and the round thing attached to it.
Also looks like the hose from it runs to the large flange coming out of the carby adapter ????
Does the other end of the hose then connect to the Oil Filler Tube ????
The flat bracket holds up a vacuum operated valve that then connects via a steel pipe to the oil filler neck. It is the emission control system Inlet is pipe on carby base.
I pulled it apart as part of the carby clean and it was like brand new inside.
The steel pipe runs around the front of the rocker cover and connects with short lengths of rubber hose.
Just had my heat shield off to replace manifold/exhaust studs.
My heat shield is straight from front to where it begins to curve around at the back. There is a spacer that fits on the middle attach point between the shield and the manifold to allow the shield to run straight back from the front.
Maybe they just bent it on later models to reduce the parts count, or perhaps someone lost it.
Cheers
Started on my Old Zenith today.
Surprised how much warp on the two halves.
A few minutes of 600 wet and dry, fig 8 pattern, mount on glass, and this was the result.
can even feel the two halves rock when put together.
Once it evens up will go to 1,000 to finish.
Open attachment to get a better view.
Wonder if the fitted heat shield makes it worse, as all heat would be directed up to the carby.
Picked up a set of listed Bosch points, but they look nothing like the Lucas ones fitted.
Cant see how you fit the wire lead, and the adjusting slot, is next to and hits the condenser
It has the 45D Dissy.
would these maybe the ones for the other Dissy type.
Local Auto One so can return no problems.
Any ideas. Thanks.
Also seem a big gap between the Dissy cap and the 2 plate screws.
Easy for Mud, Dust and water to get in.
Is it missing some kind of sealing Washer/plug, as it only has the Spring clip,
when closed to protect it ????
Thanks again.
Ebay shows two types, Original Lucas, fitted to my 45D and The Bosch ones as A Lucas set, to fit the 45D.
So two different Styles of Points will Fit ????
As per the Bosch...........http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Land-R...p2047675.l2557
I was thinking more of screwing in the new ones and see if they fit. Similarly, if you do have to take them back to the shop, take the dizzy with you for an on the spot comparison.
OK,
Found out points changed 1976,
Gilbert is a 77 model but motor I rebuilt, came out of another series 3 thought to be 77, but must be 76, or Dissy swap at some point.
Can the engine date, be confirmed somewhere by listing engine No ????
Thanks
25D not 45D.
All makes sense now, why the points don't fit !!!!!!
Call me a DickHead.
So what I worked out, Bosch wise is,
Points GL19
Condenser GL103
Dissy Cap GL276
Rotor GL229
Lead Low Tension None as yet. Does come up as a Holden listed part.
Also discovered 964 0n the casting. ( 9 week of 64 ) and 40944A, so atleast it came off Land Rover, but earlier than the 902xxxxxx motor.
Learning all the time.
