Yes. The effectiveness of dishwasher powder is due to its content of alkaline materials, and these attack aluminium, as anyone who has run aluminium saucepans through the dishwasher can testify. (I suspect your smiley implies you know this! Or was that to imply that you would not dream of running car parts through the kitchen dishwasher? Quite effective, but don't use it on aluminium, and use care with steel parts that have bearing surfaces, as rust can set in very quickly once degreased.)
