Few bits and pieces what got attended to during the week:

The sand blaster/painters I've used for various other bits and pieces sprayed an isolating primer on the under side of the bonnet for me. It was bare alloy under the frame, and I wanted something to isolate the two metals to prevent corrosion:

    Frame back in place again:

I needed the frame back in so I could sand the top side properly:

The solid rivets need to go in next, (less the ones for the spare wheel mount and hinges), then the bonnet is ready for the painter.

    Cheers,

great job, giving me some inspiration. What are you using to and how are you fitting the solid rivets. I'm guessing its a 3 handed job.

Hi Grant, I'm planning to use a pneumatic air chisel with a domed snap shaped for the rivets, and a dolly of some sort. Need to do a few practice runs first!

    Cheers,

    Tim

Have you seen the videos North American Overland have done on some series Land Rover restorations?
They do a fantastic job. You can see how they do the solid rivets in the videos. They also rivet after the paint has been done and it comes up great.

It is only good for doing the the rivets on the capping , wouldn't work on the bonnet . I modified one of the tools in my air hammer to door the ones in my door tops with a panel dolly under the rivet shaft.
