Actually a locked P38 probably actually breaks easier than a locked Rover diff.

Yes it helps. We actually pegged the front 4.7:1 cwp in our old S111 109 years ago. Got the idea from a truck diff.
I'm going to do the same with the 4.1's in my Rangie

Ive noticed most trucks and small ATV are nearly all pegged these days for a reason

I'm not sure why. The pinion looks a lot better than a Rover one, and the only thing that I can think of is if there is a difference in the crownwheel or the hemisphere flange. Either that or just bad luck on the track!

We tried to fit a P38 diff into a Rover housing at your house. It didn't fit through Rover diff hole in the housing. But that said, I think that it could be easily made to fit.
